United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black
Real world experiences - 4.2SC vs 5.0SC?

Hi

Long time member but been dormant for years, back now as thinking of upgrading from my MY2006 Supercharged to a 2011/2012 model.

I know the interior is massively improved as well as a noticeable external facelift (and more tax!) but can those who have owned both variants comment on the driving experience, reliability, handling etc and any pros or cons one way or the other?

I don't drive much so the mpg is a non-issue but having had mine over 7 years I've got the itch and of course older cars start costing more and more (has done 90K BTW).

So please convince me it's not worth the extra thousands and I can spend (far less) money on an alloy refurb, ECU remap and other cosmetics bits and pieces to spruce it up.

Or let me know what I'm missing out on by NOT upgrading!

Cheers

'nuff said... Whistle Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I updated from a 4.2 to a 5.0 a few years ago and I'd definitely recommend doing the same.:
Remenber that grin you got the first time you put your foot down - you will get that back with the upgrade.

Take one out for a test drive - try and find somewhere where you can pull out of a slip road onto a dual carriageway - the acceleration from 10 to 70 mph is stunning - Put it in Sport mode and you really get a shock.

Ha, cheers for that - the kind of info I need!

Inclination is towards upgrade anyway but just finding it hard to justify seeing as I spend most of my travel time on trains and tubes however money I was waiting on is imminent so barring a rethink I'll start looking for one I like and get some test drives in.
