Key help !!

Hi new to the forum and after some help, I've got a rrs 2.7 2005,it came with 2 keys . One works In the ignition and turns the car on has a circuit board inside it etc. And another is just a shell which only works in the passenger door to manually lock the car , but they obviously don't work vice versa. The one with the guts In etc doesn't unlock the car on the buttons , so I had someone come out to try code a new key but the key just wouldn't do it, he tried all sorts to programme it but no joy. Also I have found the car had a complete new lockset from land rover 2 years ago. If this is so then why would the barrels be different in the ignition and door Big Cry Big Cry what can I do from here? Dealer job? Thank you

I would be inclined to think they only changed the ignition lock/barrel and never bothered with the door lock that is why you have two different keys. This is only a guess but they may have removed the internals of the door lock key as there may have been some sort of conflict with the vehicle immobiliser/central locking with two different working keys. The solution may be another lock set change both locks again and have the new keys which come with the lock set programmed to the car if needed.

Cheers

Don't even recall my pre-facelift glove box being lockable, but it was a while ago, my current facelift hasn't but that could be due to the keyless entry system and to complicated and expensive for L/R to find a way round it.

Thanks for the replies guys, my glovebox doesn’t lock, I got in touch with stratstone today and they said the paper work was for the lartsxonly which was a lockset, I don’t think the ignition one has been changed due to the key looking like it’s as old as the car, the key isn’t getting any RF signal so gong to change the battery and see what that does, the guy who came out to try programme a key recommended getting a key from Land Rover to match the chassis and then get it programmed. I have a towbar recall to book in so may do it the same time , I just want it to lock and unlock from the fob!!
