As you're soldering two components together it may be worth mounting them on a narrow plain board, that way the components will be protected from movement etc. you could then sleeve it in heat shrink and make it all tidy Thumbs Up

You'll have to trim the board but this will suit your purposes:

You shouldn't need any jumper wires, mount the components to the board with a piece of wire at either end like so:

Very helpful. You could tell the manufacturer a thing or two. Many thanks.

The ring lights don't have an ignition supply. They sense 13.5V or whatever and assume engine running.
Controller built into each light.

Worth ago though. Bigger the µF capacitor the better (except for sensible size limitation)

Hi all.

Just a brief query regarding the fitment of the components that arrived today.

I now have a piece of circuit board, a capacitor and diode to the specifications described earlier. My query is if I now introduce the constructed device on the positive feed from the car to the DRL controller, which way round do I mount the components on the board in respect of their polarity. I imagine that the flow of power to the drls will have the positive ends of the capacitor and diode facing towards the drls.

The diagram provided earlier in this thread is great, but if I could find out, polarity wise, which way round the capacitor and diode go then that would be very helpful.

Many thanks.

The cap will have the pins marked as positive and negative, negative goes to the feed and positive faces the controller. The diode has a band on one side, so based on the drawing a posted earlier the end of the diode with a ring needs to face the cap.
