Random Activation of Traction Control

Hi Guys,

So after installing the larger tyres and messing around with the IID Tool to stop error codes popping up I still have one problem.

Namely that at seemingly random times the traction control activates on the front left wheel when going round a left hand corner. It's usually a roundabout or tightish U-turn at lower speeds 25kph, but it doesn't happen all the time.

So before taking off the wheel what could cause this? I assume it's a sensor by the wheel that may have been damaged inadvertently so does anybody have photos of where speed sensors etc are located by the wheel so that I can have a targeted check?

Also any other ideas of the cause? Whilst it only happens occasionally it is both annoying and potentially dangerous.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

If the traction is activating It is because the system has measured a wheel speed rotation that is is above or below the limit set out in the software . Mabye the bigger tyres are having an effect on the system. Also the bigger the tyres the more important tyre pressure would be as it effects the overall size of the tyre.
Could you not look at or record the individual wheel speed while driving to monitor the difference?

probably one of the ABS sensors has a loose connection, is dirty, or is fubar.

Check that they are all 100% --

Thanks for all the pointers Guys, I'll get the garage to run a check on those items.

On the off chance though, could the IID Tool diagnose a problem with either the ABS sensor or steering sensor?

Cheers

Geoffsnook, finally got round to having a look at his with the IDD Tool. However, I can't fathom out how to see if there's a fault with either the ABS sensors or the steering angle sensor?

I've run the live values and wheel speeds seem to be correct with straight line speed being the same on all for and when turning the inside front being slower. Also the steering angle seems to be about right and changes as I turn the steering wheel.

Also no faults are showing for either of these items.

Any pointers that could help me?

Cheers

If they do have a fault then either the abs or steering wheel sensor would throw a code and bring on a dash light if they are not bringing lights on then it thinks it is doing what it is supposed to do i assume you had no issues with the previous wheels and the diameter setting of the road wheels would it be worth putting them back on and resetting the size with the IDD tool Idea

Thanks Geoffsnook Thumbs Up

I'll give that a try and also restting the tyre radius to the same as the old wheels whch didn't cause a problem. Speedo will be off, but, perhaps everything else will behave Question

Also, wil check connectors etc on the ABS sensors are good.

Thanks for the help Thumbs Up

Cheers
