TPMS on MY17 RRS

Hi
I know this is a frequent topic, but I can't find the answer on the forum...
I have fitted 20" wheels with Pirelli winter tyres as per the RR compatibility list in the owner's manual. I have fitted 4 new LR070840 sensors (which are 433MHz, I think). The tyre fitter says that the TPMS is broadcasting correctly from each wheel. I have driven round the M60 (50 miles!) at a nice steady speed, and done two other 50 mile trips. The TPMS remains in fault mode, with an red 'x' at each corner of the display in the car.

The original spare tyre remains in the boot.

All the forums suggest that the car should now re-scan the sensors, and sort itself out. Any ideas, or is there something I have missed. Is there something unusual about the newer cars, as most of the forum posts appear to relate to cars MY16 or older

Thanks
Damien

May I ask where you purchased the sensors.? I got some off fleabay & they wouldn't connect even though the frequency was the same so I sent them back for a refund.

From a well established Doncaster-based independent LR specialist (not sure if I'm allowed to name?).

They looked totally new, and the tyre fitters said they were 'awake'. But do the fitters have to do more than they did, in order for the car to see them again. Do they need to go into some kind of pairing mode?

Cheers

Damien

As far as I know the car should just detect them. You could always go back to the supplying dealer & ask them to put the diagnostics on to set them.

I'm sure I read somewhere, probably here, that the new (either MY16 or 17 onward) cars have different sensors to the older ones. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

I was in similar situation - MY17, original wheels 22", bought 20" winter tires (pirellis).

We bought the sensors for the new 20" tires from the place where we got the tires and wheels, which were not original LR sensors. They said they have cloned the original sensor software somehow and initially all worked fine, but after a day or two they have failed (seems to me like that happened if there was a path hole).
To test if those sensors are not good, we have returned the 22" tires and all got back to normal by itself.

We have finally resolved the isuse by purchasing original LR sensors from the LR dealer and fitted those...
From that on (month or so) all is fine on the 20" wheels....
