End of a great friendship with my SVR

I’m sorry to say that due to the human part I’m having to give up my fantastic MY16 SVR. Crying or Very sad
It has been an amazing car, never have I had so many comments on any other car I’ve owned and it’s even got me a 2 page spread in a car registration magazine.
The problem I have is I had a bad accident sometime ago and broke my back/pelvis and other bits and I’m finding the “bucket” type SVR seats a challenge.
I’ve this weekend agreed a price for a New order Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic (565 BHP) and my SVR is going to the Dealerships a week tomorrow as it’s a part exchange deal. I’ve been told that the new car will be available for factory pick up September Thud so now the desperate waiting game begins, again, as initially my SVR was an 8 month reduced to 6 month wait. By all accounts the delay is due to the SVO paint and SVO builds Whistle Whistle but it will probably be registered as a 68 plate when I get it.

Thank you all for the great advice and information that most of you have provided and I hope to be able to stay on the forum, even though I’ve gone to the Full Fat Dark Side and continue to observe adventures, disappointments and general banter.

All the best and Happy Motoring. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Your posts will be missed, they’re not so humourous over there on the FFRR forum, i’ve Been a member over there through two FFRR ownership spells. I must say though that I hope that you find the FFRR SVA thrones more comfortable, but my experience with those in the FFRR’s was that they were very uncosseting, with wide flat squabs which didn’t alleviate the “ocean liner in a storm” feeling if you started to press on - very comfy but too wide, flat and slippery...... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi Tim Bow down Bow down ,
Thanks for the reply Thumbs Up . As usual I’m unable to “test Drive” in my area, or any area to be honest, as after speaking to SVO direct I was told, “ oh no Sir, you won’t be able to test drive as they are made to order” Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes So I researched with other people who have these new 2018 SVA’s ( only 1 or 2 have had delivery so far!). I have sat in one, at Goodwood, and have been told by new owners that the seats have been improved and now have 35 massage settings including hot stone and they have said that if I can’t get comfortable in one of these then I never will. The ride in the new SVA Dynamic is also improved and have minimal roll even when pushing on.
Proof will be in the eating, I suppose, but the SVR seats were just too unforgiving, great for holding you in with bolster adjustments but just not enough padding for driving lengthy journeys. For me anyway Shocked

I’m going to be very very very sad to see her go, Big Cry Big Cry and whoever buys her will have a fantastic car Thumbs Up

Well Lyonhead my dealer principal only told me this week that , for him, the MY18 Rangerover was all about the seats and their comfort. He says they really have gone all out to make them special. BTW I am on the full fat forum and I can be very amusing sometimes ........Tim in Scotland . Rolling with laughter

Sad story there pal and what a shame, but let me warn you the SVA are nothing like the SVR in terms of acceleration and speed and in reality a very slow vehicle compared to the SVR but im guessing your priority is now comfort and not the beast the SVR was/is. Good Luck! Current

Hi JPR, Thumbs Up

I believe 5.1 secs 0-60 rather than 4.3 for the SVR and 155 electronically limited which is not too shabby. They’ve updated the 2018 to 565 BHP as well, but there’s no “exhaust valve” switch to open them all the time, as far as I know, which is a great shame.
I’ve had my 18 months of blasting around and causing the neighbors headaches when firing up in the mornings.......

Ah you may be right if they add the new BHP engine, I drove the SVA when I had the SVR and it just seemed slow, that could be due to size though? But it certainly was the flagship RR, luxury throughout, carpets as thick and trim as good as a rolls royce! You will love driving it Thumbs Up Current

If you want a go faster Land Rover then you go for the SVR, if you want fast quiet comfort on a trip then you go incognito in an SVA. IIRC the SVA has such wonderful rear seats that you cannot fold them down to make the huge boot even bigger - too many vibrators warmers and coolers in the seats, also it’s only two arm chairs in the back I believe , no settee! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi Tim Bow down Bow down ,

Yes in the SVA Dynamic the rear seats fold down together or individually electrically with a push of buttons in the boot and there is room for 3 people abreast in the rear. The Long Wheelbase has the completely separate seat arrangement with a central console between them.

Thumbs Up

Don't forget the optional 'event' seating with the two seats slung out the back. Excellent for the kids and mother-in-law.
