England 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black
Security (Tracker V Immobilisers)

Hi Guys,
Just bought myself a 63 plate RRS HSE (L494), which I am in love with.
However, worried about stories of car theft and am looking at trackers/ Immobilisers and would appreciate any advice Very Happy
If I was to get a Cat 5 tracker it will only reduce my Insurance policy by £20 pa Confused , therefore is a tracker the right thing ?

Options, I am considering,
1. Ghost Immobiliser £ 399
http://www.trackingmycar.co.uk/product/aut...er-system/

2. Vodafone Protect and & Connect Cat 5 £ 699 + £215 subs pa ( Shocked BUT, Nut sure I want to pay the £215 a year subs)
https://www.trackerfit.co.uk/vodafone-protect-connect-cat-5.html

HELP PLEASE Laughing 2014MY RRS SDV6 HSE Black Stealth with 22" Black alloys - LOVE IT (Now wrapped in 3M Satin Dark Grey)

A tracker won't stop them stealing it - it may help you get it back. Do you really want it back if it's stolen and ragged around? Ghost sounds better. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

So with a Tracker you save £20 a year but have to pay £215 subs per year and it can still be stolen plus the £699 install cost.
Autowatch Ghost £399 fitted and from what I have seen and heard they can't get it started even with the key !

That's a no brainer. Ghost immobiliser job done.
That's what is going on mine once my mate has time to fit it for me. 2017 SVR. SVO Scafell grey Ebony interior

Ghost immobiliser is excellent..need I say more....

For further comfort look at the Can Track T9 Tracker.....brilliant piece of kit which you can hide anywhere on the car...Last 7-9 years on its own battery power... needs no wiring! Very Happy

Ghost all day long. I’ve had 4 ghosts fitted to 4 different cars with no issues and numerous friend and fellow owners.

300 fitted if you d like to use my pal. He’s fitted for others on here, depending where you are, he has fitted more than any other installer in the country by a long chalk.

Drop me a pm if you d like his details 2019 Svr and 2019 R35 GTR

Just don't read the Pistonheads post by the guy whose car was stolen after two thugs broke into his house, got the keys and then came back when they found it wouldn't start and held a knife to his wife's throat until he gave them the code number for the Ghost that was fitted. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Thanks for the input people,

James great idea with layering, thinking Faraday pouches, Ghost and a cheaper tracker (not cat 5)
Will also PM you for details, no harm in finding out more. Thumbs Up 2014MY RRS SDV6 HSE Black Stealth with 22" Black alloys - LOVE IT (Now wrapped in 3M Satin Dark Grey)

Layering is defo they way to go, I always keep the keys in a tin, never use the remote to lock the car, use the buttons on the handles. Ghost and tracker installed. Seems round my way I'm hearing of cars being stolen every week!

Gerd, What the reason for using door handles rather then remote key locking, What is the difference ? Smile 2014MY RRS SDV6 HSE Black Stealth with 22" Black alloys - LOVE IT (Now wrapped in 3M Satin Dark Grey)

Using the remote to lock the car increases your chances of the signal being grabbed or jammed by someone and used to unlock the car or prevent the car from locking in the hopes you won’t notice . 2019 Svr and 2019 R35 GTR

^^^as James said above. Multiple RRS have been nicked round here because of signal sniffers.
