United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Sumatra Black

If it were me I'd leave them as they are. But it isn't: It's your car.

I thought long and hard about my wheels. They were silver 22's. By the time I had finished my 5 months of negotiation with JLR I'd decided to have them sprayed gloss black. Best decision I made! Love them so much. SVR with a few bits from Urban and Glohh

Sadly it was there shear amount of technical glitches on my MY17 SVR that has put me off JLR ownership, it really detracted what should've been an enjoyable experience, given the six figure outlay! It was mainly with the woeful ICTP which rarely worked properly more than once. The spotify integration was so sporadic it became a safety issue trying to get it to work properly. Requiring a wired connection is embarassing enough these days but to have that not work properly too just exasperated the issue. The build quality was questionable in certain aforementioned areas too, such as the leather, panel gaps, paintwork etc. With year on year increases in sales JLR probably feel they have no need to change things, hopefully people will see beyond the badge kudos and it'll encourage appropriate investment and Q.C. to get the product working before a premature launch...

Thanks for all your inputs, really appreciated.

Put a few more miles on the my18 sport today, ferrying the kids from one place to another.

While out and about had a few fellow Range Rover drivers stop and comment
on how striking the updates look and having now seen one on the road going to
Pop into a dealer soon to order.

For now decided to put the barely used 22” turbines onto the new Sport this morning that I toook of the my17 I had

Initial thoughts, miss the red brembos

what ya all think, keep these wheels on or change back?

Here’s a few iPhones pictures

Thanks

I think the 22” look way better, don’t know why they dropped to 21” as standard on the SVR in MY18 keep the turbines

The turbines look Cool

Triple black can look quite ‘blocky’ for me - you need some contrast.

Put the other wheels back on & do them black, you can fit the brembo s, I’m doing that as it’s now not available on the 3.0v6 diesel, which is the most annoying thing lr have done on this new model, it should be an option on all models for those that want it!!!!!

Agree, oddly I think the turbines always look great on a FFRR but not on a RRS.

Jas Current RRS: MY18 SVR
Previous RRS: MY15 RRS 5.0L Autobiography

Turbines only for the FFRR. Silver look nice, but my vote would be Satin black a la RRS stealth pack, not gloss.. Thumbs Up

What's happened is that the very latest software update from JLR has huge issues and it's resulted in actually making the cars even worse than they were before. I've been waiting for the update to correct some of my niggles with connectivity of my iphone / radio going dead on my MY17, however my dealer (Lancaster Tonbridge) have actually been really good and said they tried the update and it made the car worse and the screens been going blank etc and even not allowing you to start the car.

So in short, wait till that's fixed and then update the car. Live with the issues in between. I really thought the MY18 system would be sorted given all the problems with the F-PACE and some MY17 sports.. however seems it's actually generic across all the new models.

It's a real shame as dynamically the car is amazing and I'm really happy with it besides the software tech issues.

Alex

I have now officially rejected my MY18 RRS Sad

The issues with the infotainment screens were apparently due to a firmware issue and even though a patch was applied this did not solve the problem and I was told there was nothing that could be done until JLR release a new patch!

The suspension issue was due to a mechanical failure and they are currently awaiting parts from the factory. This is simply appalling from a brand which is selling premium products at near to £100k. I am picking up a XC90 Hybrid next week and so far the dealership there has been fantastic - a world apart from the JLR experience.

I have also cancelled my SVR order and think I'll stay well away from JLR until they can get themselves sorted out.

RE66ELL - has your car been faultless in terms of electrics? Have you had any issues? I would go with the original wheels on the car the turbines don't really suit the RRS IMHO.

Not driven since Sunday. Seems to be behaving - But then again having said this I’ve not tapped on any options
On the centre screen as have been in dynamic sport mode since handover
Will put it thru it’s paces over the coming weekend

Also on the wheels front will put the sport wheels back on
