First RRS purchase

Hi Guys,

Newbie to the forum(about a week) been doing lots of reading and some really great stuff on here.

I’m purchasing my first RRS next week and was after a couple of bits of advice

The car I’m purchasing is a 2007 RRS TDV8 HSE with 80k on the clock.

The car has a full service history with most of it done with the dealership.

Questions are
1, are there any tell tell signs of the turbo being at the end of its life?
2, any maintenance I should do right away or just enjoy it?
3, Always have my cars remapped is this a good thing for RRS and is the BAS best one to have?
4, should I get a gearbox flush?
5, thoughts on getting an RAC pre sale check (£300) cost? Worthwhile?

Other than the slight nervousness hoping nothing goes to wrong. But the thought of getting it outweighs that

Can’t wait!!!

just trying to help, but not totally sure.

hi..i would look through the posts for common problems on that model..and if i was worried and spending a lot of cash then getting rac/aa to check it out would be good i guess.
i suggest asking about and looking at air suspension.timing belts.make sure door locks lock unlock.electric windows work.
cd player. satnav etc. even tyre wear. services.check under bonnet for oil leaks water leaks check for rust etc.go for a drive in it make sure smooth gear changes if auto.listen for wheel bearings. check front wheels for bush wear when driving and braking might make a clunk or bang noise.
also check out the mots on the dvla website for advisories.and past fails so you get an idea of the car.
.sorry i cant help much more as im new to owning one my self.

Good luck Thumbs Up

Welcome Tm 17!
Lots of good info on here,, will keep your occupied for a while searching through it. I would definitely go for a gearbox flush,, sooner get it done before you encounter problems. If not already done,, front lower suspension arms. Make sure the EPB system is serviced regularly,, it could save you a hefty bill further down the line. 2010 RRS, TDV8
bali Blue / colour coded
side steps / flappy paddles
black perforated leather

These are different beasts you could get a rac or aa check but if you could find an indy to look at it then they have a good
knowledge of them but other than what has been mentioned just check that all the electrics work as they should have a look at the tyres as 1 they are quite expensive and look at the make are they all the same good make cheap make as that will tell you a bit about the previous owner whether he took care of his pride and joy or just used it to get from a to b you cant always tell when a turbo is about to let go a lot of issues with them are they are so tightly packaged in there that they get over heated and they do suffer with oil issues as well Thumbs Up

Couldn’t believe how good these cars are when I test drove it.

I was hooked on everything about them. Always had sports cars as a secondary but sick of being cramped and looking silly with the roof down Crying or Very sad

The TDV8 feels really strong and loved the drive. I was expecting a lot more body roll and heavier driving experience.

Range rovers are the king of the road

I had my gearbox power flushed as soon as I bought my car (2005 TDV6 HSE). The fluid they pumped out was very dirty so I felt it was well worth doing. Another advantage (according to the guy who flushed it) is that they reset the gearbox so it learned your driving style. The box has worked perfectly since.

Are you buying it from a dealer? If so what sort of warranty will it have?
