Possible fix for hdc, normal suspension, transmission fault

Hi everyone, new to this site but what a great place for help and info.

Anyway, i will try and quickly tell you the story/novel.

Got the beast ( rrs v8 2007 ) just over 2 weeks ago, drove lovely on the first day, then all hell breaks loose.
Special prog off, suspension fault, transmission fault etc etc etc you prob know the routine by now.
So onto this forum where i try all available solutions...bulbs...brake switch...ecu behind battery etc.
took out ecu and cleaned connectors and board. worked for a couple of hours but always returned to the same faults.
These faults were random which makes it difficult to pin point the problem.
Also noticed after a few days that when i locked the car, the rear passenger door wasnt locking, investigated and all seemed well so just assumed the actuator was on its way out.
Now when i lock the door i make sure the small lock tab in pushed in.
I also do this before i go on my journeys.
Anyway car was set for auto lock ( car locks when reaching 5 mph ish ).
To cut to the chase....turned auto lock off and always make sure lock tab is in locked position.
I have now probably put a jinx on it but for the last 5 days NONE of the faults have appeared.

All i can think of is that the rear door lock is in an unknown state and that when the car autolocks as you drive off it eventually confuses the system ( not difficult lol ).

Try it you never know and its FREE.
Turn off auto lock
Make sure all the door lock tabs are pushed to the lock position.

Let me know your results.

Error/fault mesages

Hi, have the journeys you have done since collecting it been short ones?
If so then it could be low voltage in the battery.
I occasionally get the same messages after a few short runs.
Either take it for a long run or give the battery a charge.
The electronics are very fickle and even the slightest drop in voltage will cause these error messages etc.

Regards. Phil

Thanks Phil, I did read that the battery can be a major problem on these cars.
I did have it checked over and all was good and recharged it to be on the safe side.
Since i found the door lock issue, before i drive away, i always check that the lock tab is firmly in the locked position.
The car has driven without fault for a whole week, mixture of short and medium journeys.
Before, i would get the faults every day, with no real pattern as to what was triggering them.
However the one day i didn't check the lock tab, the suspension fault appeared.
Turned off car, pushed in lock tab restarted and no faults YET.

This could all be a coincidence but it seems to work so far.
By the sounds of things and what i have read on this site, it seems that just about anything electrical can throw the car into meltdown.

Thanks again.
Paul.

Update Still getting suspension faults so dont think the door switch is connected,
When the fault first happened also got gearbox fault f in display this was definatley cured by ecu out, the one that sits behind the battery all plugs to it cleaned and dried, had some corrosion, even took the circuit board out and gave it a good clean, electrical cleaner and tooth brush just make sure you dry it really good afterwards or it will throw a wobbly.
Have checked most of the known sources for the suspension issues fixed one leak checked and replaced front valve block o rings, as you can tell its ongoing, possibly front near side height sensor issues tho could be one of a dozen things.
On a plus side the car goes like . Censored off a stick

You can check the suspension level sensors are all OK by going to the 4x4 Info screen in the central screen. On the screen, above each wheel there should be a white bar like a minus /hyphen sign - if any of them is red then there is a fault with that sensor. Another thing to check is that all the tail lights are working OK, often a lamp failure round the rear can throw up strange fault alarms. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Replace the battery, I had all those faults coming up randomly when I bought my 07 tdv8. Bought it a new, good quality AGM battery, no issues since.
