RRS SERVICE INTERVALS advise needed

Hi all I have a 2012 RRS 3.0 sv6 it was last serviced 4,000 miles ago( This time last year) at a cost of £700 it’s now saying service required I’ve had a quote from a local independent LR service company for £480!
That works out over £100 per 1,000 miles covered I’m not new to LR I’ve had 4 Range Rovers and a discovery now this
I want to keep a genuine service history but I think this is a bit expensive? The car has a genuine mileage of 38,000

The service interval for your car I think is 12 months OR 13000 miles whichever comes first - so if you do no miles in 12 months the service indicator will still come up on the time interval. I don't Know if the service due is an A or a B service - one is a lot more expensive than the other - also are you due any of the special fluid changes that are at longer than 12 month intervals like gearbox fluid or brakes? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

I think I’m righ in saying that most cars follow this same rule - 12 months or xxxxxmiles.

Stand to be corrected though Robin

Is it a 5 year 75k mile service that the car is due or 6 year ?
Mine had it's 5 year service in October 2017 which consists of oil + filter and cabin filter plus checks which LR told me was £690 for a A service but didn't mention it is recommended the transfer box oil is changed on this service at extra cost until I asked as I had been told by the independent. Car had only done 4.5k miles since last service

Took it to the local Land Rover independent as at 5 years old I don't think the stamp in the book from main dealer is worth anymore than the independents stamp when looking at the service book plus they did a much better job and the transfer box oil included with all genuine parts and saved me about £400 on what Land Rover wanted for the work.

I have mine done regardless on miles as want to keep the service history full and correct but would not get ripped off by Land Rover prices when an independent will do a better job at better price. Just make sure you use a Land Rover specialist and not just the local garage. 2017 SVR. SVO Scafell grey Ebony interior

Service

Hi the last service was the 75000 one with the transfer box oil change
This service will be the cars 6th one
As for main dealers I spent 2 hrs calling lookers in Bishop’s Stortford no answer then eventually got through to be put on hold for 15 mins so gave up

If the car was still under the manufacture warranty then main dealer service but at 5 years old or 6 in your case I would use a good recommend independent as you get a better job and save money compared with main dealer prices. 2017 SVR. SVO Scafell grey Ebony interior

A 6 year service if you go by L/R's Service Schedule also included renewing all Flexible Brake Hose and of course brake fluid, however I assume you can ask for this not to be done as it is charged for over and above the price of a standard 'B' service.

Cheers
Col

Quite detailed list of what's due when and which model RRS1. If you can't read these there is a PDF copy in my gallery dated 2nd Jan should be able to download it if req.

Cheers

Hi,
how long do you plan on keeping the car Question

if you have it another two years (two services) its then going to be an 8 year old car and the difference between Main dealer stamps and a Good indep is not going to add any value

did anyone mention a snapped crank and goodwill from L/R yet Rolling with laughter
