Land Rover Insurance Price Hike

Just had my renewal drop through the door increased by £100 pa.

No claims or change to circumstances, 6k miles pa, retired, very rural location, kept in locked garage etc.

Checked a well known comparison site and I can get insurance for half LR's price.

Seems LR insurance has taken a leaf out of the manufactures book on over pricing!

Needless to say they will not be getting my business this year. 2018 MY19 HSE Dynamic, Santorini, Ebony/Ivory, Sliding pano, Adaptive cruise, Black wheels. Arrived 3rd September 2018
2015 MY16 HSE Dynamic, Santorini, ebony/cirrus, sliding pano, cameras, black wheels - Arrived 1 October 2015

Going to call in to my local NFU office on Friday.

I have so far stayed with LRI so that the car would repaired by a LR body shop, even then the nearest to me is 125 miles away, as the car will be gone by this September I am now not bothered who fixes it so long as its done without hassle. 2018 MY19 HSE Dynamic, Santorini, Ebony/Ivory, Sliding pano, Adaptive cruise, Black wheels. 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

My Defender premium went up more than 100% this year but when I queried the renewal letter I was told that the computer had “had a bad hair day” .............. they requoted me but it was still a big increase so I went to NFU Mutual and the premium dropped by 50% compared to Land Rover from over £500 to approx £225 and importantly for me off road use was still covered. Interestingly for my new Mini NFU quoted me a higher premium than for the RRS and when I queried it I was told to come back in April at renewal time when I have the paperwork for the new car and the offerings from LRI for the Sport showing my NCD etc (30 years of no accidents, one claim in 35 years!) 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

It is underwritten by Allianz Insurance plc.

The very same people that underwrite for BMW also. I left them a long time ago after they quoted ridiculous price increases on both vehicles.

The only good thing to come out of them was a £1175 Windscreen for my M5 for a £75 contribution before leaving them Laughing 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

I kept with them for the same reason, but then due to the increase and the fact I don’t think OEM parts in a accident has much weight

Oh and when I crashed that front end was repaired with LR stamped parts..... were you going it’s still a good example Rolling with laughter

I have never had a competitive quote from Saga in the 10 years I have been of age to use them, maybe time to take a look there in April then. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Have just taken out Comprehensive cover for my new HSE Dynamic with LV Insurance - £392 including Legal (with 9 Years NCD).

Interestingly ticking the box for AEB (Autonomous Braking) reduced the original quote by approx. £45...

LV were by far the cheapest for me. Renewal with Tesco was £670. NFU £610.
