United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Santorini Black

Thanks Tim for mentioning carfile. My dealership went from offering zero discount on a plug in at £92k to matching car wow at £89k but carfile gave me a price of £85k which my dealerr has said they will match so thanks again for writing your post as it saved me about £4k Smile

Thumbs Up well done, hope the car lives up to expectations as what I have read in the press is that it is quite underpowered when running in petrol only mode and struggles without the boost of power from the battery power if it isn’t available, although RRS is supposedly better than the L405 FFRR PHEV 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

i have bought it because the majority of my driving is local so it is ideal for me to drive in electric mode but i did read about the petrol engine struggling at full power. lucky for me my fast driving days are over and now being an overweight 43 year old i like to just drive carefully Smile

thanks once again mate and just goes to show why forums are so important. a few mins on here and i have saved thousands and needed to as i bought a brand new atb in march for 83K and sold it the other day for £62.5k Sad

I’m about to retire and feel the RRS PHEV is more than I want to spend and I can pay off the loan on the Mini Countryman (although it is a very expensive Mini now I have finished with the options list and managed to keep it below the 40k liuxury car tax point) before the day that my finances change drastically. I enjoy the RRS SDv6 hugely and it is by far the best all round car I have owned BUT LR’s lack of assurance over the snapping crank issue has made my mind up against keeping an otherwise brilliant car once the warranty runs out - something I would do if I had the reassurance that a) the car isn’t part of the batch with dicky engines or b) that I would have cover for a replacement engine should the worst happen as I won’t have the finances to be able to spend 15-18k on a new engine. I am under no illusions that a Countryman can do what an RRS can do however a 4 day rest drive proved to me that I can life with it and run it mostly in electric mode for my run into town and where I am I am lucky that in the local town there are loads of public charging points I can use if necessary (unfortunately they are no longer free!). One thing for sure I will try to avoid using the 1.5ltr 3 cylinder engine as a battery charger. the Mini transmission system is lifted directly from the BMW i8 and only differs from it in that the engine is connected to the front wheels rather than being a generator - the rear wheels are driven by the electric motor. The Countryman S E PHEV is actually the fastest accelerating Mini there is (including the latest Cooper Works edition!). What really impressed me about the demo car was just how sorted the suspension is for a car riding on steel springs! If I want to revert to fun mode and an offroad capable car I will still have my beloved Defender to play in. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Do you think most dealers will offer a discount if you mention these brokers? My spec is around 85k with the broker 6k less than the dealer, all I managed to get a deal on was free service plan from my dealer, they would not budge on the 91k price, I ordered my car on Oct 4th for a March delivery so mine can’t be far off built, what would you guys do?

There is only one way to find out - go to the dealer and see if they will match the broker.

I see in the video that It takes 14 hours to recharge the batteries unless you have a wall charger unit (which BTW LR don’t sell, in the UK you have to pay additional to an approved installer for a wall charger), that is a long time to recharge compared on a wall socket. Must be using old tech for their charging system. I was able to fully recharge the Mini on a 13 amp socket in much less time than that when I had the demo car. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Basically that is what the wall charger does BUT as a domestic tariff user most folks get a surcharge for having a 3 phase system added to their house............... my father found that out the expensive way when he had a change of use on his manufacturing unit to a domestic very large shed, in the end he removed the one piece of kit that required 3 phase and had the system reduced back to a single phase domestic arrangement. I think that is the reason why only utility company approved installers are allowed to install wall chargers for cars in a domestic property. I don’t know about England but here in Scotland we are getting public access chargers in car parks that you need a swipe card to use anywhere in Scotland. The rapid chargers in public places are all 3 phase and the Mini can charge in less than an hour from flat to full charge on one of those.
For those interested there is a good smartphone/iPad app Zap-Map that shows all chargers in the UK, who operates them, their operational status (working or not) and if they are vacant or occupied and there is an attached forum for people to add comments about each charger.
Interesting that the RRS PHEV isn’t built in the UK but on the same Magna production line in Austria as my Mini and BMW hybrids and ZEVs are built on.......... I wonder if that will make them any better assembled than the Solihull product........ 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I suspect most dedicated domestic wall chargers are single phase 230V but via higher Amperage than a standard 13A 3-pin plug can supply.

Triple phase at 400V would obviously charge even faster. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

The E-Pace will be built by Magna, not sure about the P400e.

According to various magazines P400e RRS and FFRR, E Pace (all of them as no PHEV is yet announced) and iPace will be assembled by Magna Styer in Austria with production possibly moving to the new JLR factory being built at the moment in the Czech Republic to get around any duty imposed after Brexit. P400e RRS and FFRR is already being built in China for the Chinese market to get round import duties and it already on sale there according to Autocar 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
