Dashcam Hard-wire Install via Overhead Lighting Console?

Just purchased a Thinkware F770 Dashcam with rear cam add-on and I am looking how to hard-wire it into my 2013 L320.
I did a forum search and found lots of advice on how to hard-wire the dashcam back to the passenger footwell fuse box.

Just wondered if anyone has hard-wired a dashcam to the overhead lighting console? If I could find both a switched and un-switched supply to the overhead console it would make the install a lot easier. Although the existing lighting console power supplies will be fused, I could install in-line fuses to the dashcam power feeds as an added safety measure. Any thoughts or advice would be very welcome.

Also looking to feed the rear camera cable along the side edge of the headlining and into the rear hatch via the existing rubber cable 'boot'. Again, any thoughts or advice would be very welcome.

Thanks Thumbs Up

I looked at both ways of hard-wiring it in, and found via the fuse box made a much more "professional" looking job, just piggy-backed off fuses 48 permanent live and 52 aux.feed. Did Rear Cam as you suggested bit fiddly but not to difficult.

That rear camera job looks very good. I struggle to get my cable through the rubber conduit between the tailgate and the headlining. Might have to give it another go.

You may have seen my post re wiring already but here’s the link just in case you haven’t

I threaded a piece of thin electrical wire through first, then attached it to the camera lead, plenty of silicone lubricant spray then gently pulled it through. Shame the small USB plug is not right angled like the Blackvue one's, would have made slightly neater job with less lead showing.

Cheers
