Kwik-Fit Hunter alignment

Has anyone used Kwik-Fit to get he alignment sorted my local one has the Hunter 4-wheel setup. I have a RRS1 on a 10 plate with 20" (it's the only time i can brag Rolling with laughter )

Also will i need to set the suspension on to tight tolerance while it's setup?

Thanks

Kwik-Fit have such an awful reputation I wouldn't consider using them for anything other than perhaps a puncture repair.

Even then they would probably try to tell me that 'this tyre can't be repaired and you'll have to buy a new one - oh but its a 4x4 so of course you'll have to replace all four' and then 'oh dear, the only tyres we have in stock in that size are these Pirelli Super Xtortionatios at £300 a corner plus VAT and fitting.......'

Find somewhere else. And yes - a good alignment place will have the means to put your car into Tight Tolerance Mode.

Make sure the fuel tank is full. The alignment techs should use an airline with calibrated pressure gauge to set all 4 tyres to the correct pressures. Raise and lower the vehicle a couple of times then push it back and forth a bit to settle it down. Then check the ride height at each corner is within spec.THEN put the laser kit on and do a full alignment.

Chat them up a bit to show you're an enthusiast owner who looks after his car and get them to make sure all the readings are not just in the green zone but right in the middle of the green.

My local place does all of the above and my tyres are currently wearing perfectly evenly.

It helps I think if you make sure at least the wheels are clean and spotless and have it done on a dry day in the middle of the week. The techs will concentrate better if the car's not dripping on their heads whilst under it and Saturday is always the most hectic day so they are not in the best frame of mind to deal with fussy customers. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

When I first got my car, it was pulling to the left. The dealer took it to kwik fit for me who had Hunter equipment, they improved it a bit but it still wasn't right.

After a couple of months, I took it to Discount Tyres in Luton, I had all 4 tyres replaced (budgets I'm afraid) and the Hunter 4 wheel alignment. They got it spot on, its like a new car now. Thumbs Up

Hi Chapps,

Didn't get chance to get the alignment completed over Christmas and now need to do a run up to Oban next week so looking to get it sorted ASAP.

I used the link form Andy and have been getting quotes ranging from £95 to £140 with the most expensive stating the suspension should be on it's lowest setting and the cheapest stating they need it at least for half a day... so not had an overly confident feeling.

Can anyone tell me what they paid and what the official procedure is to set the alignment so i don't get sold up the river...

Cheers
