Budget leak... higher tax on NEW diesels coming

Just heard on R4 Today programme a small item on the forthcoming budget and taxes on cars - rumours are that there will be a new special tax only levied on NEW diesel engined cars, so if you are expecting to take delivery of a new diesel RRS in the UK be prepared for an additional tax to be paid. Problem is the UK Govt has been encouraging the big cr makers to move their engine factories to the UK......... and they have, they have moved their Diesel engine manufacturing to the UK....... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Also read in the Times that Hybrid cars will have to pay minimum Road Tax of £130.00PA plus £320.00 extra on top for first year and possibly up to three years.

Fully electric cars are under the radar too, to make up for the loss of income in other areas.

No longer having road tax discs on display is loosing DVLA over £150 million PA, why the surprise? It didn't take much common sense to realise that would happen. Whistle New rules and campaign being introduced with automatic confiscation of vehicle plus destruction of said vehicle if car isn't taxed. John

Maybe if the police were to re-activate some of the speed/A.P.N.R cameras that we are told are switched off because they cost too much to run then the loss of income might be less. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Cannot see petrol coming down but diesel will probably go up,,then all goods will go up as haulier will put their prices up to cover haulage costs. This country just gets better,,only a hour ago my friend posted on Facebook that petrol is £1.90 a gallon,,yes a gallon not a litre,,,,,no wonder they can all run V8 petrols.

One of the reasons the majority are now switched off is because originally the money went to the Police Force and the Speed awareness group, but that was altered by government and now all money except for a very small percentage goes straight to government central funds. So no reason or purpose for the Police to continue just being government Tax collectors, not even enough money returned for maintainable camera systems. Northamptonshire Police don't have any operational Static speed cameras in their whole area. Two of the motorway average speed camera systems are now inactive for the first time due to costs of keeping them working correctly, but if plans go ahead at least the average speed camera locations will go up to 60mph instead of 50mph as eveidently after research much fewer accidents at 60mph than at current 50mph on motorways. Majority of the time it would help if anyone was actually working on these areas. Whistle John

BKHK quoted:
