If you're losing power in low gears it's probably the same as mine... split turbo hose. Others on here will give useful responses. Barrie.

Black smoke suggests the engine is running rich. You need someone to check for error codes to see where to start with it. Could be an injector issue, MAF issue etc. Might be worth checking/changing the air filter just in case it's heavily contaminated and thus partially blocked. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

It can only be the 4.4 Petrol as his avatar shows a 2005 V8, 4.4 Sdv8 only came on line in 2013/14. I don’t think the 4.4 V8 has any turbos, it is a naturally aspirated Petrol 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The 4.4 V8 petrol is a rare thing in the RRS. You might have more luck in the Range Rover forum: http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/ as there are more likely to be more of them with knowledge of the engine.

Basic principles apply, however, so checking the obvious stuff (codes, filters etc.) would be a good start. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Then it will be a Vogue L322 Range Rover as Sports only started production in 2005. The V8 petrol in the FFRR is a BMW unit at that stage of production so also BMW forums will be able to help. Good luck with getting it sorted, as mentioned FullFatRR forum is a great place to start. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
