Swap twin towing electrics for 13-pin?

Hi,

I'll be picking up my 2013 RRS HSE Black Edition next wednesday (just a bit excited) - it currently has twin towing electrics fitted, and includes the Land Rover removable tow bar.

Has anyone tried swapping the type of electrics fitted? I'd ideally like to swap this to euro-style 13-pin electrics. Would this require "coding", or is towing electrics just an on/off as far as coding goes?

Thanks for any advice

Sure there will be away to change it, I just bought a plug in convertor so I have the option of towing on old or new style electrics Nanocom Evo

Thanks Jaggs - I'll be using a plug-in adaptor for now, I just thought I'd investigate the swap as an option since virtually all of my towing will be with 13-pin for my caravan

you want the 13 pin if your caravan has the anti sway fitted so it will work Wink Wink

I bought a 13 pin kit from Dan @ Duckworths. I didn’t realise my car had the 12n&s electrics already fitted (I put a deposit on the car, and knowing I was going to be using it for towing I ordered the electrics before I actually had the car) All I did was change the lower half of the loom, and it all works fine!

Assuming you're referring to the Alko ATC system? I did some searching on here and found reference to others who have working ATC from the twin-electrics (but not single due to the lack of permanent live); so I think I'm ok on that front. Of course, I can easily test this in the drive before I actually tow anywhere - I'll try to remember to post back here to confirm one way or the other.

Thank you PhilMid, that's ideal. I'll check the cost and check whether the ATC works on the twins before I decide to do anything, but its good to know I have the option.

When I had my RRS1 2012 I had 7 pin electrics fitted but when I got the caravan (my friend who owns a Towbar company) fitted 13 pin electrics for the atc system to work.

Hi,
The ATC works off the “S” plug so needs to have the twin 7 pin plugs fitted 👍 Corris HSE Dynamic 2016
