Removing front fog lamp covers

I want to change my front silver fog lamp covers to black by vinyl wrapping (MY17). It is easier to do this with the covers off the car, does anyone know how the covers are removed?

Sorry pal mine are the round type, not sure about the type you have on your car
have a look at the user manual as it should show you how to replace a blown fog lamp MY08 RR SPORT3.6TD V8 FULLY LOADED, COOLER BOX, GVIF UNIT, PIONEER AVIC-F980DAB HEAD UNIT, RETAINING 4X4 INFO OEM SCREEN AND TS-WX130DA SUB

Hi Scrumps

Thanks, unfortunately I don't have access to Topix, are you able to post or pm me the details (assuming it allows you)?

I gave up trying to remove the covers as the instructions I found required you to dismantle the entire front bumper.

However if all you want to do is change from silver to black then I bought a set of black covers which stick on top, they look great and have worn very well. I would say the quality is good (much better than JLR's infotainment software!), even if they are Chinese from eBay.

If you use them remember to heat the 3M pads with a hot air gun or similar.

Thanks for the quick reply - I actually prefer the silver so want to remove the black Very Happy. According to Topix they should be able to pull straight off - I will keep trying or maybe I need to consider your easier option Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

You could buy the eBay black "over covers" and then rattle can spray them (before fitting) with an etch primer and then with the silver colour you want.

Unfortunately they don’t pull off there are 2 locating screws in the back

I tried many ways going via inner wheel arch etc but in the end u have to drop the bumper

I got a independent local body shop to do mine 1 hours labor £80 job done by people with the tools and skills I just didn’t want to start messing with that

Here’s the before and after

Thanks for the definitive answer Big Cry looks like I'm taking a bumper off next week Laughing how come you went from black to silver ? My Auto Dynamic has the factory standard black finishers but I prefer the silver brightwork Laughing changed all the rest as per 16MY brochure - seems a shame to stop at the fog light covers Whistle
Cheers again Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Maybe it’s my old age but I think that little bit of shine on an otherwise black front makes it look more aggressive......looks like a low down set of screwed up eyes. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

My bad before and after is actually after and before

I went from silver to black

I had it with everything done except the fog covers but it was rather unsubtle or more like a huge spot on your nose so I ended up swapping them as well

Good luck with the change 👍
