AEB Not Available

Have had the 'AEB Initialising' warning a few times but today it has progressed to 'AEB not available' and 'Forward Alert Not Available'. Got a MY17 AB and have seen it discussed on a few of the Jag and other RR forums but just wondering if anyone on here has encountered it yet and whether there was simple remedy or whether it's a visit to the dealer.... I'm expecting it to be a software update as the only thing I could think of was dirt in front of the stereo cameras but there isn't any.

Hi

Yes I get exactly the same thing and several others like HDC and Stability control electric side steps etc

They go away when you switch ignition of and on.
I guess it's software bugs so I started photographing them and date stamping.

I took mine in last week to get checked but they could not find anything surprise surprise but they could not deny the faults with the pictures

So I agreed to keep sending them as they happen and they will take car for a full day to get time to do detailed fault diagnosis as the car was only in for a couple of hours to be fair to the dealer

Here's an example

It isn't camera based. It's a radar unit behind the front grill.

It isn't only RRS that suffers from this issue - numerous reports of it on the Evoque forums too. Temporary fix seems to be to stop, switch off for 5 minutes and restart the car, ie reboot everything. I don't see how the AEB is connected to HDC which is a system for stopping wheels locking up when offroad on slippery slopes. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi

Your quite correct AEB and HDC not connected it was just another example of the faults that are reset when I switch ignition of and on
It seems there is a wider software bug that was what the dealer told me when they had it the actual systems are operating perfectly

This is just another example

AEB is camera based on 17MY vehicles and works in conjunction with the radar if you have ACC.

Not in RRS....at least it wasn't two months ago. Definitely only one camera behind the rear view mirror.

Ah, maybe not. I take it all back! 2017 SDV6 Autobiography; Carpathian Grey, Ivory, Soft Close, Extended Grand Black.

It definitely does for 17MY. From the manual:

AEB uses forward-facing cameras, located above the rear-view mirror, to help identify an imminent risk of collision with another vehicle travelling in front. AEB also helps to identify an imminent risk of collision with a crossing pedestrian.

Thanks for the replies pretty much as expected, the restart solution didn't work yesterday as left the car for 4 hours and was still displaying the not available warnings. Just checked this morning and still not available so maybe it has failed.

I'll just monitor it and get it check by the dealer when I go for a DEF top up in a few thousand miles.

My SVR MY17 has this since new I reported it to service who said it's a known issue with no fix that was back in January.

Side steps also stop working without warning and need a reset in the menu they either reploy a little bit then stay stuck or don't work at all.

Lots of MY17 bugs still around so glad I'm not waiting for MY18 Smile

Had the warning flash up just once, cleared almost instantly. I put it down to the very heavy rain I was driving in at the time. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

So when this does not work as advertised what is Land Rover's responsibility, should they refund the cost of this extra feature ? Seems there are a lot of features that don't work correctly on these vehicles? M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

This is an interesting thread, on another thread people want to reject a car for a slight paint imperfection , but here we see acceptance . To me owning a Range Rover is like owning a Ducati Motorbike , you know it will never be perfect but there is something that make the heart skip a beat when driving down a dirt road feeling safe and viewing the scenery that few get to see in a car that just take the road in its stride. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.
