2014 Sport HSE dynamic heated steering wheel retrofit ?

Hi guys.

I am happy Very Happy to say I'm coming back after a big mistake I made Big Cry !

Sold my 62 plate SDV6 Firenze Red Range Rover Sport HSE Red addition with the autobiography pack on it about 1 year ago, then bought a brand new Audi Q7 S line ! Big mistake !
Had so many problems with it mainly with the gearbox ! Broke down on me 4 times with the gearbox faults once when I was in Lagos in portugal ! Not fun ! Plus it just felt like a car no soul to it like the Range Rover sport.

Anyway I have been looking at the new shape sports L494's I love them. Eventually found a gorgeous Corris Grey 2014 sport HSE Dynamic SDV6 with only 16,400 miles on the clock with pretty much every extra onboard, fridge, self parking, Tv, surround cameras, panoramic sliding sun roof, mood lighting, park heating and so on ........ But one thing which is missing is the heated steering wheel ! I'm not too bothered to be honest but the steering wheel has a blank there which I hate Evil or Very Mad why not make it a multifunction button Instead !

So my question is can you retrofit this option to the sport ?

I pick her up on Thursday really can't wait to get her home and spend all weekend polishing her Thumbs Up

Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

My previous 6 Range Rovers have all had heated steering wheels but my current one was a dealers ordered car bought just before it went into build so I couldn't change the spec at all. I do miss it a little BUT for the 3-4 times a year I use it (and my car sits outside all year round) TBH I haven't suffered for not having it! The L494 warms up quite quickly - for me within the first 7-8 minutes / 2-3 miles and I leave the climate on auto year round so I have a warm cabin fairly soon after leaving home on a frosty morning. It is retro fittable but needs a new steering wheel (often done on an exchange basis with the likes of Powerfuluk), a new clock spring and a switch. As you also have park heat on yours maybe you won't need the heated steering wheel but just find a new switch ( <£1 and save a heap of money) 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi Tim.

Cheers for the reply.

Me too not really bothered about the heated steering wheel as you say its something that i hardly used before anyway.

Will see if i can remove that blank to see if i can see any wires ? If there is then i could just put a switch in and hopefully it lights up too with the lights ? Not really worried about changing the wheel but least it will look better then just a blank being there.

Will keep you posted on how i get on.

Hi guys.

We'll I've not had much luck finding a button pack for the heated steering wheel ! The ones i find are always in america !!!

Will be ringing my dealer tomorrow to see how much they are but i reckon you have to buy the whole steering wheel !!!

I'm only after the button pack at the moment to get rid of that horrible blank in the steering wheel !! Then when i have the spare cash will buy a new heated steering wheel ! From powerful UK which seem a decent price £400 ish !!!

There must be loads of sports wrote off which have this button i guess they sell the steering wheel complete though !!

Do you guys know where the best place to look for the heated steering wheel button is ? Or have any links ?

Cheers.

Tom.

If you want to try CWS 4x4 breakers website they may have what you are looking for if they have had any L494's or scrap, there are other specialist Range Rover breakers and google is your friend! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Cheers for the links guys 👍

Will try cws 4x4 breakers too.

Hoping to just get the switch pack as the whole steering wheel is expensive ! But getting the switch pack i may have to buy the steering wheel complete as i suppose it will be cheaper in the long run !

Thanks again.

Will keep you posted how i get on 😉

Cheers

Tom 👍
