Front end vibration

Over the last 6 months I've noticed an increasing vibration from the front noticeably when you come off a roundabout and accelerate! Vibration last as you accelerate but stops after you've straightened up ? Wheels are balanced properly (recently checked ) any thoughts welcome please . TDV8 2008

With it being under aceleration it could be either a diff or driveshaft problem.

If I have a problem with either front diff or driveshaft what would it cost to replace / fix either just to give me an idea . The problem seems to be getting more noticeable but doesn't happen if I accelerate on a straight, just when I boot it from coming off a round about. Thanks

Have you had a 4 wheel alignment check done? Incorrect alignment can cause this. Also check tyre pressures. I've found that pressure imbalance across the axle can cause vibrations. Slightly low pressure will also cause it. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Hi yes had a full wheel alignment carried out when I had front lower wishbones replaced earlier this year . Also tyre pressures Are spot on . I'm trying rack my brains to remember if I had this vibration before I had the wishbones done back in February and to be honest I don't think I did 🤔 Certainly not as noticeable as it is now .... I wondered if It might be the front ARB bushing as it is more noticeable when accerlating off a bend .... at a lost as to what it could be

It doesn’t sound like th3 same problem I had but might be worth a read of this so that you can rule it out.

Certainly worth checking the oil in the front diff. If it’s all black and grungy then you are fairly certain that there’s a problem in there. If not look elsewhere.

Have you swapped any wheels around? Robin

Hi Eaters , yes had front to rear swap because of the wear on the fronts but this vibration issue was present before I had that done and both front wheels were rebalanced . I'm considering having the front diff oil inspected now just to see condition of the oil . There's no noise as described in your post . Thanks

Hi Alfie

The question about the wheel swap was because there was a comment on here recently about keeping wheels where they were (especially I think if asymmetrical tyres but I could have been dreaming that). I recall it was not so much the wheel balance but the wear on each tyre being slightly different. Even as I write this I wonder if I’ve just had too much to drink. But I’ve said it now anyway. If the problem was there before the wheels were swapped then it’s not that. Robin

On the official LR Service sheets and agreement, changing wheels around is part of all standard service A & B.
I did say not to bother on last service due to new tyres, but I haven't actually noticed if they have moved them as stated, as a requirement too. John

Passed MOT today without any issue . Having consulted a local Indy it seems highly likely I have a worn driveshaft ! Which was advised in an earlier reply to my post . Very grateful to all that replied with help I will keep you informed how I go on as I will now have the driveshaft replaced

Going in for propshaft fix tomorrow ( centre bearing rubber split possibly damaged centre bearing) my local Indy specialist is replacing centre bearing. Hopefully this will fix the vibration I experience when coming of roundabouts and booting it !! Somehow I doubt it will cuz I suspect it's the torque converter but will let you know this time tomorrow 🤞
