United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 Autobiography Firenze Red
L494 2014 Gearbox selector button and sunroof button

Hi all, new member and my first post. Have an Autobiography Dynamic since June that I absolutely love but there a couple of things really bothering me, especially as the was nearly £80k new!
Both the gearbox selector P button and sunroof button ‘graphic’ are wearing off, the P button is especially annoying as I see it every time I drive. I have tried to claim on the warranty but LR are not interested. Evan emailed the MD of JLR but no joy. Does anyone else have this issue ?

Welcome to the forum. Thumbs Up

The only button I have showing any "missing/worn" print, is the stop/start button. Year MY12. Wear and tear on these type of items are not generally covered on warranty, unless you are purchasing brand new, or point out before purchasing possibly.
I'm sure if you contact some of our LR parts sponsors, or Recyling Yards and Ebay, you will find something/used to replace yours with. Big Cry John

Mine were both worn when I bought mine. I had both changed. I looked at other used sports at the dealership and the worn 'p' button was common. They thought the only option was to change the gearstick but due to costs they wouldn't. Then they said the button could be sprayed! I found out you could change the button. It's about £3.50 to buy and just clips in! They changed it after I told them it was replaceable! Great dealership knowledge! Rolling with laughter

Hi Weevit.

My Park button has a slight bit of wear on it too !! It is annoying as you say you can see it. You say you can buy this direct from landrover parts the button alone ?

I spoke to my dealer a few months ago when i got mine and they say you can only buy the gear lever complete at around £300plus i think !!!! Going to ring them tomorrow.

My Sport has only 20,000 miles on the clock and it shows a slight bit of wear too. It's bad really and this Park button should of been made out of alloy ! No problems then !! Plastic is cheaper i guess !
My Landrover dealer wouldn't change this under warranty for me !! But Hunters Norwich are not the best dealer that's for sure !!! I've had really bad service/experiences from them over the years !!!

Hopefully i can get a new button as you say as i was looking at getting it sprayed like the original again !

New Park button on the shopping list it is tomorrow then.

Thanks.

Tom.

Sorry I don't have the part number but you can find it online as I found an exploded view of the gearstick somewhere. Just ring the parts department at the dealership. Don't spray it - it will cover the red illumination!

Hi guys.

Yea if i was going to spray it I would of got it done professionally so i kept the P as you say i don't want to loose the illumination.

Anyway a update........
Spoke to Hunters of Norwich parts department this morning and you can buy the button on its own !! Even though about 1 month ago they said i could only buy the gear lever complete !!! Grrrrr!!

Anyway i bought 2 as they are only £4.70 for each button.

Looking forward to picking them up tomorrow and getting a new one fitted into position.

Think this button is going to be a big seller so get them while you can.

There was a technical service bulletin about this for the 2014 MY. It was on Topix. I'll see if I can dig it up when I get home. 2016 SCV8 Dynamic - Firenze Red/Pimento
