Thanks, I'll give the garage a call about it now. Any experience on how much it costs for guides?

Not sure about costs, there are a few snippets of info on the internet that a search will bring up for you with some stories of other owners that have had the work done. |

Thanks. I've contacted the garage, hopefully will get it in soon. Surprised it doesn't raise any faults. |

My Jag sometimes sounds like a bag of nails on idle. (pinking).

Which engine has your Jag got Andy? Seems chain guides are a known issue on the 5.0 and can be f-series expensive to fix. Usually throws up faults though. Garage can't look at the car until late next week, so I'm stranded for now as I really don't want the engine to croak. |

Nice one Col. Looks like this might be the issue after some more googling. Been an interesting 3 months of ownership so far. Hopefully once I get this nailed it'll behave. I'll chase the garage tomorrow and mention the TSB.

My VIN starts with 'SA' according to the IID tool so I suppose that TSB doesn't apply to me. Symptoms seem similar tho. Noise + misfires. Nothing back from garage yet, might try another one. |

They all start SA I think, the bit you need is the two letters preceding the last Six digits i.e. AA215623 - CA759577. If you go into the on-board menu to service where you check oil level, you can also display Vin. No.

Ah - in that case my VIN is in that range. I've forwarded the TSB to the garage as well. Thanks again Col - you are a fountain of knowledge. |

Booked in for the end of the month. Had a warning that it could be super-expensive, not looking forward to the bill. Not much else I can do with it though, so I'll just look forward to having it healthy again!
