4 weeks idle and it started

I was OS for 4 weeks and asked my son to start the car a few times as I was aware from this board that others had issues with flat battery when car left standing for long periods. As usual my son did not listen to my instructions and the car was not run whilst I was away. Good news was it started straight away and I have now done a short 150 k drive to ensure batteries are topped up.

Whilst away I hied a 2016 Disco TVD6 in Iceland , though I try a similar vehicle since I was on the wrong side of the road I did not want to be in something to unfamiliar. The disco has some similarities, same fuel consumption from the 6 that I get from my V8 , and the gear box change and performance seemed quite similar. Steering was heavy compared to the sport and the car felt quite soggy on the road. Other than that it was nice to have a decent vehicle to roam the wet roads whilst in Iceland. One thing I did struggle with was the price to hire , around 300 pounds a day ?? Nice to be back in my own car now, did see quite a few range rover sports around London , I don't think I'd have one if I had to deal with the tight narrow roads and traffic but I suppose one gets used to those conditions. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

Well Done IRBails!

The best I've done is 10 days before the battery was too low to start the vehicle. The worst is 4 days! It has been backwards and forwards to LR Dealer and to a specialist Auto-electrical engineer. All tell me its a design failure in the architecture and will have to live with it. A plug in hybrid without any of the benefits!!!

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Mine has just spent 6 weeks on the drive and my brother drove it yesterday, it started fine but there is a warning on the dash that it must be started immediately as the battery is low. From previous experience the warning is for the Stop/ start barrtery not the main battery. It got left for 12 weeks last summer without a run and started with the same low battery warming but after a 16 mile run to town that disappeared and suddenly the Stop/start had resumed service. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yikes - 6 weeks and 5 days. In 2015, after a heart op, I was a bit immobile and although my children were around to help me with stuff, I thought I would just leave her in the garage under a cover. I was prepared to call recovery to get it started but when I took the cover off, and hit the start button, she fired into life Smile

I don't worry about not being able to start any more. I purchased a NOCO Genius Boost HD GB70 2000 Amp 12V UltraSafe Lithium Jump Starter, from Amazon. It definitely holds its charge, and I have it plugged into 12v socket in rear of the car to keep it fully topped up.

No more worries about flat batteries. Like the CTEK battery charger, I am surprised LR haven't started marketing this with an LR logo slapped on it at double the price!

I'll upload a photo of it when I can find one.

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?
