Poly bushes fitted and this happens :O

Had an MOT done 2 weeks ago failed on front bushes Big Cry , last bushes only lasted 18 months :O elected to go for poly bush. (last set also fitted by my local Indy . Anyhow 2 weeks after having car back I take a look underneath Shocked

The rubber appear sliced by the arm? front offside

And a picture of the front near side.

Now the near side looks absolute fine and appears to have lots of room in the bush housing. It looks like the bushing has been sliced/pinched by the arm at some point. I lowered and raised the suspension and just cannot see how such a large slice of rubber has been knifed through. The rotation of the arm is only small compared the the slice of rubber that is hanging of the bush.

Something else just does not look right, if you look at the spaces on the good near side the rear bushing has a silver spacer and then the blue poly. If you look at the OSF bush there appears to be a blue then a black then silver spacer then the outer bush.

Then look again at the good NS bush front there is a blue then silver then blue bush, compare that to the front bush of the offside and it appears there is just a silver then blue bush. Confused

I am not an expert here but the shims are not consistent in use from NS to OS. I am feeling really Evil or Very Mad about this, its not a cheap job and this looks botched?

What do you guys think?

Thought they did genuine Poly-Bushes in different colours for different applications i.e. Orange "Dynamic", Blue "Performance"
Etc. related to hardness or something like that, could well be wrong though.

With regards to the cut bush is it possible the did it when fitting the wishbone back onto the vehicle, if it was a bit tight to go in and they gave it a clout with a hammer it cut the bush on the sharp edge of the mounting, only a thought.

Cheers
Col

Did some googling, these are not Polybush (the trade name) but a polyurethane bush. A bit naughty to say they are Polybush, these look like Powerflex brand. Neutral

Could well be these https://www.powerflex.co.uk/road-series/pr...11260.html

The question is what the heck is that black band you can see on the failed side? Looking at the fitting instructions I cannot understand what that is.

A lot of people prefer these bushes as they are a little more compliant than the polybush which is harder but i would take that back to the indi and ask him to sort it out as it looks like it is not sat in there correctly Thumbs Up
