EGR Emulator ??

Ok folks, simple question ,what is an EGR Emulator ?? is it what I would need to fit when I blank my EGR valves to stop a fault showing on the dash. My RRS is an 07 but I did blank them on my D3 / 05 without any problem, am I on the right lines Embarassed (still learning)

No the emulators are elctronic boxes that fool the car's ecu in to thinking the egr valves are functioning fully even when they are blanked off.
They are not a plug & play item, once installed the main ems ecu has to be updated with software to make the emulators work.
Owners of Pete Bells ( Bell Auto's Site Sponsor) remap interface box can update the software with this device, so it is plug & play for them.

If you blank your MY2007 RRS you might get the eml light on and you might not. It depends on how early in build your car was built, but normally MY2007 cars need emulators fitting when they are blanked off.
The emulator's when fitted prevent you from having to change the egr valve if and when they fail, you just basically fit and forget.
The beauty with emulators and a software patch is that if in the future at MOT time they stick on a tool to check the egr valves are working, then it looks like all is well and working fine.

Flack Thumbs Up

I have the emulators on mine, Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
I took my car back into the main dealer, however as I have the BAS interface I put the standard engine map back on my prior to the visit. This lets you drive the car with the EGR's blanked and the emulators fitted for a "limited" mileage without any problems. If you get any warning lights on the dash, it's simple, stop, turn off the engine and restart, you are then good to go once again -- for a limited mileage.

I did a little test on my car, with the standard map on the car, my car ran trouble free for circa 4 miles before the warning light came on, it still ran OK then, but a simple stop and restart of the engine gave me another 4 miles or so. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

Should add, I can verify what Flack has said, I have an GAP diagnostic BT tool, with this plugged into the vehicle diagnostic port I was able to see functioning EGR valves via my iPad. Thumbs Up In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures

Sorry to drag up an old thread but where can I buy the emulator kit etc. Just had 10 year service and egr faults are showing up. Anyone point me I'm the right direction? Thanks

Get them blanked and software patched 👍
Two choices when it comes to Land Rover stuff like this:
www.bellautoservices.co.uk
www.alivetuning.com
There are also a number of mobile gurus on here that can sort it using Bell or Alive products. They are Bodsy, Flack, Woody32 and Geoff. .
They can also remap it for you at same time to give the car it just deserved ooomphh!
They also do gearbox flushes to prolong gearbox life

Thanks for that, ive had the 10 year service included gearbox. I spoke with alive tuning about blanking the egrs on a tdv8 they seemed to strongly advise against it?

I'm no expert but that is my understanding too but I bow to superior knowledge of the aforementioned mobile mechanics Thumbs Up Visitor from fullfatrr.com

I no im not sure whobto believe really... phoned alive and they told me not to do it at all on the tdv8 also my local indy (promec 4x4) who seem to know their stuff and come highly recommend have said they would do the work in regards to blanking and mapping them out but they also strongly advised against it. So ive opted for the replacement of both at a cost of £660 fitted.

Did they say why the advised against it? A few posts on here have said similar but no one has given a reason.
