Heater blower either off or on max speed

HEy guys,I got a problem with heater blower last few days. When AC is on, on whatever speed the blower always runs on top speed, but it turns off when OFF button is pressed.
I guess there must be some fault with a component/sensor at the blower motor itself, how hard is it to get to the blower and fix this problem? Can this be a ressistor or something else?
My car is an 2006 RRS 2.7TDV
Thanks in advance

Yeah, and lights at the knob indicates what speed blower should spin but the blower keeps constant max speed unless i turn knob all the way to the left till it turns off.

Is there a dropper resister fitted for this, was in the "old" days, but could well have been modified nowadays. Embarassed John

It's most likely the resistor module located next to the fan below your glove box. It is housed through the side of your duct leading from the fan motor and retained by 2 Philips screws. A 4 spade connector is plugged into it. £45 is the usual cost of these so I stripped mine down by prising the grey body over the spades to reveal a circuit board. I found a thermal fuse value 114° and 2 amp rating. R replaced it making sure it was sunk into the semiconducting white goo.(I added more of this goo to be sure that the heat was dissapated into the cooling fin's from/to the fuse. At a cost of less than £1 for the fuse it resolved the problem. HAPPY DAYS !!!

The thermal fuse is a small white component and is soldered to the circuit board. So you will need a decent little solderer.
NOTE: Try not to go overboard using loads of solder otherwise you will ruin or short out the circuit board.
