How do you finance your RRS? Poll.

I was thinking of getting myself a new shape RRS (or maybe a Discovery - still trying to figure out the differences).

I'm not too keen on the idea of using all cash as I would with a sub £20k car, so I have been researching leasing, etc.

This then raises the question of the lowest cost way to put my backside in one.

So I thought I'd ask how the good folks here generally finance their cars? Hence the poll so we might all get a general feel. Get a 2005-2009 RRS (FAH500210) sat nav/dash mat here - the one that wasn't there when you bought the car.

Contract hire for me. I know exactly how much it will cost over the two year deal.

Halifax do their own PCP product for existing customers - might be better rates.
I did mine through LR finance then paid off with a cheaper TSB loan 50% through. That way I could haggle the deal to begin with and then slash the interest rate when I switched to the TSB loan Thumbs Up
It also means I have more control of the car now if I wanted to sell it etc Visitor from fullfatrr.com

Always a loan for me, why spend money that's making 12% on p2p when I can get a loan for around 3%?

PCH is gaining ground on PCP if you don't intend to keep the car at the end of the period. Merc C220 estate Sport AMG

Funny way really........
I'm embarrassed to say it was paid by cash, when I ordered my car back in 2012, I took in wraps of £50 and £20 notes, they wanted me to pay it into my bank, then do a bankers draft. I said it said cash and that's what I signed.
I'm sure another dealer wouldn't complain and order same spec one for me. Whistle No more problems, although evidently they had to go straight to the Bank, as they had insufficient insurance cover for this amount to be kept in their safe.
I didn't realise so few people now don't use cash to purchase, (perhaps on private sub £10k purchases?) but this was a bit of a joke on my part, as when they, "Hatfields" asked on the order form how I would be paying, Cash/Finance/HP or PCP etc, I selected cash, so on payment I then put the "Cash" into a suitcase Thud they said cash meant Cheque or Credit Card, not physical money. Embarassed How many people do you know that have £80k credit card limit? Whistle John

When I bought my 1st RRS1 in 2009 from guy salmon in Wakefield for 38k I went with 30k in carrier bag & said put 8k on card,,,they said sorry we can't accept that amount of cash without involving the taxman/inland revenue,,I was straight to the bank in Wakefield then back to dealer with card. They said 5k is their limit in cash.

Paid for mine on switch, was told bank transfer or switch by the dealer !! They also said only five percent of their cars are paid for outright.

In recent years I've always used a debit card for full cash payment, but my dealer said they couldn't accept such a large sum on a debit card this time and asked for a bank transfer in advance of collection.

It's probably because they now charge a percentage for debit cards were as before it just used to be a fixed payment around 15-35p per transaction.

Looking at the poll results, I'm surprised how few do leasing.

On Lings, the RRS starts at £2600 down and £890 a month, over 4 years inc road tax.

How does that compare with the costs for you folks who are not all-cash buyers? Get a 2005-2009 RRS (FAH500210) sat nav/dash mat here - the one that wasn't there when you bought the car.
