Diesel fuel system cleaners.

Has anyone used this or similar fuel system cleaner products on their sdv6? Are they worthwhile? How often should they be used?

Yes I have on my BMW 318D. I started to get a slight hesitation even though it was run on V-power diesel and doing 64miles per day commute and this cured the hesitation.

No had any reason to use it on our RRS though.

Steve.

Thanks. I was just wondering if it was a good idea to add cleaner to the fuel every once in a while as a precaution rather than waiting until there is an issue I have noticed a drop off in fuel economy last few months thought maybe carbon build up could be partly to blame. -----------------------------------------------

Now I suppose there's an argument to either put the products in or treat it to the expensive diesel Thud

Not honestly heard of adding 2stroke oil to diesel before, but having a diesel run about I thought I would look into it and a quick google search turned up this fairly conclusive study:

Adding 2 stroke oil has a big following with some on Disco3. Total snake oil, ahem. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Looking at that study it does look to have some marginal benefits, but it causes the injectors to foul up Question

Yes. Sorry - couldn't resist the infantile meme - seemed appropriate considering the 2SO debate has been done to death; (91 page thread FFS!)

For the avoidance of doubt - use of a decent diesel injector cleaner has beneficial effects in certain circumstances and is endorsed by many reputable experts. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
