What to buy : RRS2 or D5

I am stuck in a dilemma. I own a FL2 [ 2010 ] and a D3 [2006]. Both are excellent cars and have no issues at hand. But I'd like to own something more recent. So I'm thinking of trading both in. The question is : what to buy. From the FL2 I know I miss the space and handling of the D3 when driving it. The FL2 has a wiered feeling in the steering in long fast curves ; a bit unsteady... I can only afford to buy a D5SE 2.0D, or a 2014 RRS2 TdV6. Anybody of you tried a D5 or regularly drives a D5, to help me to choose ? I like the refinement of a TdV6, but I am also aware of the mainbairing problems of the later TdV6 engines, after my 2006 car. Please advise.....

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

I have owned 2 RRS1's and driven several RRS2 models.

I bought a D5 instead of a Sport because I wanted the extra space in the boot and have not regretted it.

The D5 has a better implementation of the current LR tech and is a very refined car.
The Sport would be a better option if you put handling at the top of your list, the D5 is not so good in that respect.

It is a fine car but handles ( so I am told ) more like a full size Range Rover.

It is largely down to your needs and I suggest you test drive both.

Hi,

We own both!

I have a 16MY RRS2 AB, Mrs Scrumps has a D5 TDV6 HSE.

For us it's "horses for courses". They both cover long distances with ease, the RRS in Sport/Dynamic mode goes x-country with aplomb and puts a smile on my face. Both are comfortable, the D5 more "compliant" on country roads/tracks.

The D5 can carry loads of kit in the back, the RRS not so much.

To choose one would be difficult, I'd go RRS, I'd bet good money she'll go D5!!!

Hi,
Looking for a replacement for my D4 , RRS and looked D5 .
In D5 seem very comfortable 2nd row seats.
Do you experience inconveniences with it?
And is there any problem with D5 as it is still not long ago produced?

I have decided on my strategy. I will first sell the FL2, as it would have been in the barn for six months over winter, as soon as my D3 is back from Portugal. Smile No use keeping the FL2, although I think its a nice 'baby-LR'. Then end of november, I will put my D3 up for sale. Idea I informed some friendly dealers its available then. When some richt kids want to go alpine skiing and 'dad' isn't too keen on lending his own RR, it might sell at a good price even. Then I'm left with the MiTo, untill the first quarter of 2018. Then both 'friendly dealers' will deliver many new cars which generate 'trade-in'. I am eager for a RRSDV8 , new far out of my league [ taxed easily € 200.000,- here..]. If this doesn't happen, I'll order a D5 and hope to take delivery before april so it can take me to Portugal.... Behold; if the D3 isn't sold, I will take her again for a tour. She's faultless and only my snobbery pushes me to a newer car... Embarassed
