Autoelectricians don`t charge a lot to be fair. I had one fitted for £30.

I've got the Nextbase duo jobbie and with the supplied cable it goes through the lining on the passenger side, down the doorway under the carpet and along the passengers right leg trim and I've got it to pop out just beside the power socket. Nice and neat and you don't see anything except the end piece that plugs in to the power.

Steve.

I have a Thinkware F770. Wired myself and the only concern was the wiring to the rear camera. I left it visible in part to advertise that a camera was fitted (deterrent?) but it is a bit ugly there. I think others have managed to hide the wiring in he space where other wires go from the roof to the tailgate. Might try that at some point. See my post in this article with some pics which may help.

I'd be interested to hear about any installations (professional or otherwise) regarding hiding the rear camera wiring Robin

I have a K1S Dual which comes with cams about 2cm cube'd. I stuck the rear dead middle/top of rear screen and fed the wire through the tailgate and into the headlining, dropping out at the C pillar to go along the carpet edge to the front storage cupboard, where I have the unit. Its in a good position though I sometimes need to clean outside where the wiper sweep just misses the top of the screen. I don't notice it (small blob in rear view mirror) and as I have privacy glass, it can't be seen from outside.

The front sits in front of the rear view mirror and again, isn't very noticeable, I certainly can't see it when in the driving seat and from the front, there's nothing "sticking out" from the profile of the mirror.

Looking at your pics, yours is far bigger plus you have one of those attenuator things inline too? I don't have one of those so its a lot easier to hide.

Does the thinkware come with both front and rear or do you have to buy an additional camera ?

Socast - the Thinkware comes with the option of one or two as I recall. There are others that are cheaper but I believe that this one has the highest resolution and good night-time quality.

Col- That's very neat. I will have to give it a go.

Puff - I assume that I can lose the attenuator thingy inside the headlining

For anyone thinking of buying one, I think the positioning is key as you don't want the front camera to be obscured by the chequered stuff on the windscreen in front of the rear view mirror, and for the rear one you have to decide whether you want it hidden which means the sweep of the rear wiper doesn't include the camera lens, or make it more visible by positioning it so that the wiper keeps the glass clear for the camera to do its best job.

And for me I would have like the Thinkware to have illumination on the buttons on the font camera box as its very difficult to se them otherwise. However the Safety Camera feature is very good. Robin
