England 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
Hope he's wrong

Hello all any thoughts appreciated
Working merrily away when I get a call off the wife
I'm broke down all the lights are flashing
On the dash board tried to start it won't start
I asked what's happened
I was only doing 20 over some speed bumps
and it just lost power and it stopped
Ok call green flag out lowloader to local
Indie I use ( sport already booked in for Friday
With noise tapping on left bank lifters I thought)
So ring them and tell them it's on it's way on a truck !!
Looking at it Thursday
Anyway the geeen flag macanic says it's a cam tensioner snapped off
(I hope he's wrong ) I'm led to believe if that has happened my engine is scrap
Any thoughts or advise appreciated

The oil pump often goes following the cambelt change mine did 15k following cambelt change before oil pump tensioner sheared off, it's not looking good ....... Fingers crossed for you Nanocom Evo

Sounds like oil pump. Generally a few K'S after having the belt replaced...

Should you always change the oil pump then, even on later models (MY2012) when cam belts due for change?

There was a batch of cars where LR decided to fit a different oil pump casting. This casting is, it seems, weaker than the original but was presumably done to save a couple of quid on the build cost. Following a number of failures, they changed back to the stronger casting. The affected cars are around 2007 I think. The weaker casting seems to be fine until the belts are changed. A few k miles thereafter it has a tendency to fail.

LR have contributed to the cost of a new engine in some cases although I think not all. If you have a complete service history and the mileage isn't that high, it might be worth talking to LR about it. Can't hurt.

There is a lot of info about this over on Disco3.co.uk 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

It affected 05-08.5MY, and a very small number of 09's

All 3.0 were fitted with the uprated pump Thumbs Up
