Wheel nuts - check yours now

It is a known issue that the wheel nut covers can swell due to rust building up inside them making it difficult to get the 22mm socket onto them. See here:
http://www.disco4.com/forum/topic161797.html
A few of mine have swollen and locking nuts gone a bit crappy Big Cry
Also locking wheel nuts can rust, gnarl up and then need special kit to remove them.
So, ditch the locking nuts and replace the entire lot with solid, non-capped nuts all round (20 needed).
I've ordered the same set as Batfink and Charliecloud in the above thread.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111810992021
Will report back soon Thumbs Up
Go and check your nuts now before they get too swollen Shocked
Imagine the scenario on side of motorway when socket won't fit on a nut or the locking wheel nut mangles Whistle Censored Evil or Very Mad Visitor from fullfatrr.com

I'm not able to check my nuts for a couple of weeks yet... I'm 4000 miles away from them Sad

Can the caps be removed, greased underneath then refitted? I've not yet had cause to feel the RRS's nuts yet... 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

I think covers can be taken off but I bet it's a bit tricky as they're on quite tight.....

Yes, sounds a good price, but will the alloy nuts be rated for the same torque etc.? I'm sure they'll be fine, but...., 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

New solid nuts are not alloy. Steel like originals but no caps.... Visitor from fullfatrr.com

In the eBay link in your original post, it comes up as alloy nuts which is why I asked.

I fitted steel nuts to my P38 about 7 years ago when I fitted L322 wheels, and within a year they were all rusty, with the rust streaks all over the alloy socket area (admittedly it was never washed). If I remember correctly this was done to save cash as the P38 was then just my runaround to get abused (actually originally bought for the gearbox but plans changed and still going strong). 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine
