United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 SE Santorini Black
RANGE ROVER SPORTS 2015

Hi, I have a RR 2015 TDV6. The car went for servicing to LR and they have come back saying that there is a water mixed in the hydraulic system and they will have to renew the full hydraulic system which will cost £4k in parts + £4k labor to fix which is not covered under guarantee.

I am not sure how the water can get mixed, there were no errors and the car drives perfectly. The car is under lease from Lex.

What options do I have?

1. Second opinion from another garage
2. Why isn't the warranty paying for it? It's still in the original warranty, surely.

Do they mean the anti roll bar hydraulics? It's a sealed system so how has water got in there?

Sounds a bit suspicious to me. Wondering if someone has poured the wrong stuff in the wrong reservoir... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Yes, they mean antiroll bar hydraulics. First they said it's covered under guarantee and today called back saying it's water contamination and someone may have mixed water in the wrong reservoir which is not covered under guarantee. The car only goes to LR for servicing.

I have 9 months remaining on the lease.

Sounds to me like the garage has messed up - probably had the trainee topping up fluids - and is now trying to get you to stump up. Got to be worth a second opinion anyway and got to be worth taking it up with LR Customer Services.

It sounds like they want to remove the entire system and replace with new pipes, pump, valve block and the anti roll bars. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

This is my 3rd RRS, I know where the washer fluid goes Cool

The car went in for an oil leak, how would they find out about the water contamination?

however it's got in there, just replace the fluid once or twice and see how things go. (could get them to pay!)

Something bound to fail sooner or later in the system anyway

Why worry, I find that water mixes quite nicely with hydraulic oils...here's a pic of my 1964 digger hydraulic oil and it runs away nicely on milk Rolling with laughter

As mentioned, a couple of flushes and it may well be fine.

I had the exact same issue, just four weeks after purchasing the car, and before I had even opened the bonnet myself.

I refused to pay, and suddenly £6K worth or work that was needed to rectify the problem could be resolved by flushing the system.

The service department were adamant it was my fault, their technicians could never make such a mistake. It was not until I told them I only had the car for 4 weeks and it had already been back to them for suspension work they relented and flushed the system. ------------------------------------------------------------------
