Scotland 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Santorini Black
2012 Tailgate only opens with fob

Hi all.
Just got a 2012 Sdv6 RRS.
Noticed the tail gate will only open with the fob. When I push the button on the actual tailgate nothing whatsoever happens.
Any advice welcome.

Thanks

Rod

You're unlocking the car first before trying the tailgate button? i.e. Unlocking the driver and passenger doors first? Naturally, this has to be done, or any TDH could have access to your boot Thumbs Up Very Happy
If so, then possibly a dodgy switch or broken cables

Mine opens with the button even if the car is locked, as long as I have the key with me.

Yep, you see I've got an old RRS not blessed with keyless entry. Should have worked a little bit harder in my youth Big Cry Embarassed Very Happy Thumbs Up

I guessed it was a key-less thing - like 'gesture tailgate' (when it works!), it wouldn't be much good if you had to unlock the car first I suppose! Rolling Eyes

Mine used to do that occasionally, fitted new switch to tailgate and now work works fine, funnily enough it only seemed to do it in hot weather. I am assuming you have the one piece tailgate being a 2012 car, if you fit a new switch I would suggest you get one of the kit's to mod it to close off the fob as well if the forum member still makes them up, it works brilliantly.

Can't really remember the members name I think it was something like "the big one" but if you search the "group buys" section of the forum I think you should find it.

Cheers
Col
