New order, stereo question..

Hi all,

1st post! My new RRS will be at the dealers end of this week Very Happy I looked at topix for the build spec and saw LO LINE AUDIO SYSTEM 400W. I did not specify an upgrade at the time of ordering and the base stereo is listed as 250W on the configurator web page. Any idea whats going on anybody?

I have read some reviews that the standard audio is average at best so a better system (if that is what it is) would be great.

Cheers.

Interesting - I'd like to know as well since my delivery is due in January.
My spec quotes 'Range Rover Audio System (250w) with eight speakers'.
No sign of a spec change in their configurator.
Mind you I found the previous model system very good.

As I understand it, there are 3 levels - the base LR system, the base Meridian system which costs £1000 as an option where is it not standard and the top Meridian system which costs a further £4000, so either a £4000 or £5000 upgrade, depending on your starting point.

Most people who have heard it seem to think the lowest level is relatively poor offering for a car at this price level and the £1000 upgrade is worth having. The top system seems like overkill but Meridian know their onions and I expect - and hope, since I have ordered it for my SVR - it is good. I have a Meridian active speaker system for home use and it is. to my ears anyway, very good.

If you like listening to music, I think the middle option is the best compromise between cost and performance. If OTOH, you like to listen to the Archers mostly, the base system will probably be fine. Mark

I am tone deaf and specced the basic system.

However, I wish I had spent the additional £1000. The base system is very poor and has no bass at all.

Hope that helps!

Got to hear the top spec stereo on a newly delivered - It makes the 825W Meridian sound as bad as the 400W basic system. £4K well spent, wouldn't leave home without it

Old post, but for others future reference mine also shows on Topix as lo line audio system 400w. Read somewhere that Topix isn't always reliable. Can confirm that the sound is pretty poor on the basic system and lacking base.

I'm researching what can be done to upgrade the system. Be interested to hear if anyone else has. 2005 RRS First Edition Supercharged

Hi, Out of curiosity, when did you place your order? I'm asking as my car started being built 2 weeks ago but still I have heard nothing about delivery.
