United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange
Prudent Servicing for the 2005 115k mile Sport

Having run my Sport for two months and got to know the car it's now time to get my local independent (Black Paw) to attend to the car.

It's got plenty of bills for regular servicing but the book itself is absent and so is much of the detail on what was done and when is not clear to me. So I want to get to a good place to work from.

I think this is a Major ('B') service plus some age related jobs

- Double flush of the gearbox
- Transfer box oil change
- Front + rear axles and locking diff oil change
- Brake fluid change
- Flexible Brake hoses change
- Engine flexible hoses check/change if required
- Supercharger drive belt
- Serpentine drive belt
- Engine coolant change
- Spark plugs I'm going to leave as they have been changed recently

Two questions; what is the position regarding the V8's timing chains? Does it have these (this?) as well as a serpentine belt to drive the auxiliaries? And when does it/they need changing (done a search, can't find). Second - anything else I've missed/should consider?

Regards

John

Very sensible idea IMHO.

You will find copies of the maintenance schedules that cover all models in a sticky at the top of the maintenance and mods section.

Might want to consider renewing the dynamic respoonse filter
Strip clean and adjust the EPB shoes
Flushing the power steering

All of the above are expensive if they go wrong so worth looking after carefully.

Sorry can't help with the timing chain question but someone with an SC will be along soon I expect. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

It does have a chain at the front.

I think jaguar had gone the tensioners sorted by the time they fitted into the RRS.

If its noisy at the front after startup then it may need attention, otherwise don't worry

Thanks both

After a bit of digging it seems clear that the timing chains are not a service item (unlike cambelts) so this could be one area in which a Supercharged is cheaper to run!!

Business is obviously good at Black Paw - they couldn't get me in until 24 July!
