Condenser change 4.2 s/c

Hi guys, I changed out my condenser, I am not sure if this is how dealers do it, I think they lift all the rads up and then split them but this worked for me, I know nothing about cars so if I can do it anyone can. I purchased a good socket set and t40 torx.

Disconnect battery.

Pull off front grille, clips on top and a firm yank forward.

remove headlights, 2 tabs to lift and a large connecter on rear once loose.

Remove the screws from under the bumper and wheel arch.

Disconnect the two connecters on left

Remove screws from top of bumper.

The sides of the bumper come out with a sharp tug.
Disconnect the headlight washers, just a push clip.

Remove the plastic plate it is in two halves held by front torx and a hex headed screw at each end

The slam panel is held on by the torx bolts, give them all some releasing fluid and then some time.the two shorter bolts are on the extreme left and right

Disconnect horn and remove wiring loum that runs inside top of slam panel. Disconnect bonnet release from right side.

Disconnect bonnet closed switch.
Disconnect active cruse control.

Remove the lower slam panel, bolts and a unit on left that I cannot identify that just slides up and out.

2 screws which are a pain as they face backwards and temp reader connecter allows you to remove plastic scoop.

Unclip top rad fan guard

Undo the 3 bolts joining the condenser to the pipes, yes 3.

There are 4 nuts holding the condenser in place the bottom left is easier if you saw of the dryer from the old condenser.
The steering cooler just unclips from both ends and is easy to move out of the way.

By removing the screws from the front rad you can work that rad forward of the slam mounts. The condenser can now be worked upwards. The new condenser can now be carefully slotted in, yes it is very awkward and at times seems impossible.

Now replace the o rings and oil them if possible. Now enjoy reassembly, don't forget to connect the bonnet release. When finished a cold beer is compulsory!

Your welcome Phillh, I could do the job in 5 hours if I done it again, but with seized bolts the job was spread over 2 days.

Good luck.
