MY 2013 RRS Heated Steering Wheel Upgrade

Hi there,

Just purchased a 2013MY RRS Black Edition L320 without heated steering wheel.

I would like to upgrade to a heated steering wheel but not sure what bits I need and part numbers?

It is my understanding that I will need the following:

1. Heated Steering Wheel
2. Switch Pack with Heated Steering Wheel Switch
3. Cable to connect Switch Pack to Clock Spring Power Connector
4. New Clock Spring with Heated Steering Wheel Power Connector

Has anyone out there done this modification / upgrade and could provide some advise / LR part numbers for the bits I need?

Thanks.

Not sure about this but you may also have to enable it in the Canbus system - can be done with IID tool I believe, or a visit to your friendly Indie or Main Dealer 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

You will also need the tool to release the Airbag about a tenner of fleabay, if you are lucky on a 2013 car it should already have the correct clockspring, but you would need to remove wheel first to make sure. I also have all the part numbers some where, will dig them out for you. Pity as I have a virtually brand new steering wheel here, unfortunately though I'm the other side of the world. Laughing

Cheers

Hi Tim,
Thanks for the reply. I will check out with my local LR Dealer if I need to have this option enabled.

I did this upgrade and my advice to you would be use Dan at Duckworth parts to supply you with the correct bits for the job. Quote the forum for some discount

My 2013 HSE Black never had a heated clockspring so i had to get one of those too.

I enabled the CCF file myself using my iiD tool. Good luck and such a nice mod in winter time Thumbs Up 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

Hi Buckster,

Thanks for your sound advice. I don't suppose you have the LR part numbers I need for this upgrade anywhere? Col on the forum has said he will have a look and see if he can find them but if you have them on an invoice or something from Duckworth Parts, that would be great.

Cheers

Steve

I dont have the part numbers to hand as im away at the minute but Col will probably have them long before i do!!

01673 849 873 is Duckworth parts. Ask for Dan Roberts and he will probably require your chassis number to order you the correct parts. He is very knowledgable for sourcing what you need as he has done it alot of times now!! Thumbs Up 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

Steve,

Just had a look for p/numbers,

With the steering wheel there are quite a few options like colour of leather, contrast stitching etc.
Standard heated wheel in Ebony Black Perforated Leather would be LR023958
Switch Pack Vin No. dependant either LR056642 or LR056645
Clock Spring LR018556
Wire LR050751 not sure you need that though, but would be cheapest bit Laughing

As there are a few options I think I would take Buckster's advice and speak to Dan at Duckworth's, he always gives a good price on genuine parts.

Cheers
Col

Did this mod on our 2006 L320. Easy mod, took about 1.5 hours including swapping new circuit boards (can compatible from BBS) and soldering the radio receiver into the gearbox wiring for the tiptronic gear change.
Didn't buy the airbag tool, made one from a wire coat hanger.

Thanks Lonescout,

This mod seems popular and easily 'do-able' by an average DIY guy, just need to source the bits now! Keeping an eye on auction sites for a heated steering wheel at a sensible price.

I will do a write-up for the forum with photos when I have all the bits.

Cheers

Steve
