My First - MY17 Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 Ordered

My First ever Range Rover, and first ever 4x4. coming from a BMW 5 Series

Order details

Autobiography 3.0 SDV6
Santorini Black
22inch 5 split-spoke 'Style 504' Wheels
Ebony Seats, Ivory Dash Trim
Ebony Headliner
Privacy Glass
Drive Pack Pro
Fixed panoramic sunroof (prefer it over the sliding one as it doesn't have the black bar)
Adaptive Headlights with Auto High Beam Assist

Original delivery date was the 21st Aug, however my dealer has stated my car will be built by the 28th July so should be available to pick up a week later.

Whats everyones thoughts on my spec? I was in two minds with the colour, I was debating with fuji white with contrast black roof or Santorini black, seeing a few in person I decided on the black as I think it just looks nicer. the M17 has Black lettering on the car so my dealer is changing the lettering to silver to give it a bit of a contrast which I prefer, the grilles etc will still be in black.

Sounds good Amarb.
To that spec i would personally add £315 adaptive lights,,£260 full-size spare wheel. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

I have added the adaptive headlights, forgot to add that to the spec.

I have not opted for the full size spare actually. it might be worth considering then.

I spoke to the dealer and I can change to the full size spare.

I dont know if anyone can tell me how the reliability on these range rovers are as I have heard horror stories all over. I was initially going for a BMW X5 but the Range Rover just seemed like a nice change, I hope I have made the right choice.

i'd love to hear any first hand reviews from any MY17 Owners out there

Also a little off topic, does anyone know if this car has Remote Start via the App? I have not opted for the additional remote heating upgrade.

I had Fuji white with black roof they look nice but common combo and I think white is outdated now if that's the black with blue / purple sparkle in the sun it's what I would have next time on a range.

Regards tech the MY17 is excellent and a big step up from MY16 and before which I've had. I specced MY17 SVR with remote heat but it's not required as the car does start and heat / cool from the app which is therefore better and free. That said the app is intermittent in my view if it works or fails where as the remote heat keyfob works everytime so I'm the winter I use the keyfob I also assume it's more fuel efficient.

I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Reliability of L494 RRS is better than the previous generation, but even they are not THAT bad and if you are not asking existing owners about reliability then don't listen to what the general public says, they don't don't know what they are talking about. I'm on my 3rd one since 2005 - had one TDv6, one TDv8 and now an SDv6 Dynamic - never a moment's issue with reliability. I've also owned Land Rover products since 1996 and only ever had one roadside stranding with a TD5 Discovery2 that parted its aux drive belt on the day I took it in for part exchange for a Freelander......... otherwise the only RR that has had any mechanical issue was my last Evoque that was faultless for 9 months and then after a software upgrade burned out DPF sensors on a weekly basis until I got fed up and sold the car for my current RRS. RRS is no less reliable than any BMW (in fact more reliable than Merc and BMW if you look at some of the surveys) 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Amarb thats a good point which GJW1 makes about the colour its called Faralon Black and it really is stunning.
Its premium colour thats a option on the full fat but no cost on the sportAB. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

I did happen to see a car in Farallon Black, it does look very nice. However I did have a Carbon Black BMW so its quite close to that colour, this time I went with the Santorini as its quite a deep black and stays black under most lighting conditions.

I have noticed on my spec sheet that it says fr & Rr Cooled/Heated Seats. I thought they only come with heated and cooled seats in the front and heated in the back? unless you choose the option which I didn't. so if they do come with rear seats cooled as well I will be happy.

Only the fronts are cooled but cooled is a overstatement.

I would also advise service pack but you can add that upto 90 days after you get the car so no rush to get it.

Heated steering wheel if it isn't standard on the AB. The first few cold days of winter will make you fall in love with it. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Fuji White

Heated steering wheel is standard on AB,the climate seats are amazing in the hot summer months,,I'm glad I bought a second hand AB instead of a new HSE.If I did ever buy another RRS it would have to be a AB.

I specced the climate seats, they have no actual cooling ability built in, they simply ventilate, and I don't feel much effect ever. Had them checked at first service, too. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

The climate seats on my14 AB get ice cold,,in fact if you have them on full cold setting after 5 minutes I need to put on setting one as they are too cold.
