Front bash plate compatibility

Hi,
First-time poster, I've had my Range rover sport for a few months now and am using it a reasonable amount off road. But am struggling to find a front bash plate (I know there are the GOE ones - but looking for something else), I'm trying to find out if the Discovery 3 or 4 ones fit the range rover sport. I'm getting a bit confused as some manufacturers (Ironman and Asfir) list the same part number for both so I'm guessing they are the same (or at least should be as a lot of the underneath is identical - apart from the middle bit). But others say they are different?

So I guess my question is will a D3 or 4 part fit (don't mind doing some modification to the bumper if needed)?

Thanks in advance Andy

Welcome to the forum,

I have never had a Disco guard to try on the front of mine but currently have a Mantec bash plate on mine. I will be changing it shortly for a Mantec winch guard when i get around to fitting my winch.

My brother has a Disco 4 and will be buying a bash guard soon so i will give it a try as i was curious if they would fit too Thumbs Up 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

Not wanting to push you away from this forum but AULRO might be a good place to look as it seems you guys over there tend to get more off-road action than we do or that people actually allow. There's a post that offers some knowledge & I'm sure there might be more.

There are a load of youtube clips of a black RRS not too disimillar to yours known as Black Betty from that forum too, fun to watch.

Hi Pufftmw
Yeah that's my thread over there. Problem is there's not that many being used in Aus either off road so the info we get is a bit contradictory. Some say yes other say no. Which doesn't really help as I don't want to shell out a load of cash for the disco version (Which is easier to get hold of) if it doesn't fit. Andy

OK after a bit more digging I decided to risk it and get the Britoart front bash plate from the disco 3. Worst case I could resell it to a disco owner.

Anyway it arrived the other day from LRDirect, so before fitting i lined it up to see if there would be any issues. All the holes seemed to be in the right place. So far so good. Removed the front splash guards and lined it up properly.

All good. I can confirm the Britpart guard does fit.

rock sliders and step out bars to mine and by the way there are a few on here that off road
and based in OZ .. Black Betty belongs to jimmysalsa on the forum, so you can always get in touch with him
and arrange days, caught up with him many times ..

I have had mine fully prepared, its been to Cape York the hard way Whistle

Cheers Zilch.

I think I got one of the last Snorkels that Mantec had in stock. Yeah I have Gorgon's Compressor plate too. Took and age to get it, which is why I went with the Britpart one in the end. I came in just over a week from the UK which is pretty good. Andy

in regard to your snorkel, ensure the airbox has been sealed as well, JS who had one fitted
to his and had to get it sealed. I had the RAI from LR fitted by OL and they sealed it and
the pipes to the airbox to ensure it was more snorkel than RAI, but after a few services i
would have to have it redone before wading Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

I fitted it myself. It still has the original porus pipe in the inner wing which I'll need to replace before going too deep. Andy

How sturdy does that britpart plate seem? Their products often leave a lot to be desired...

It seems pretty solid. Haven't tested it in anger yet but I'd say it's easily as strong as other alloy ones I've used before. Andy
