Rear door latch

Hi, i have a 2007 2.7D. I only got it week ago and with all the work done and money spent in previous 12 months, thought i would be reasonably safe for a while, i was, a week! When locking doors with fob, the rear drivers side does not lock. When i operate handle, door opens and alarm goes off. Can lock it manually from internal catch and all other doors are fine. I stripped it down today as in right down to the nylon gears etc. Couldn't see anything amiss so rebuilt it. When operating cables manually, everything is fine but when put back on car, the movement is limited and not operating lock. I guess the motor is goosed but can anybody tell me different before i invest in a new latch?

Many thanks in advance,

Gary.

Mine did that intermittently, fixed it by lubricating the little lever inside the car.

Not done it since

Been here twice now very common failure, front drivers then passenger for me. (lock it, and can just open the door) From lots of googling there are no user serviceable parts and its a swap out. £90 Had a indy spray it and fiddle with it for mot, fault came back in a couple of weeks.

It's the big motor in the photo that fails, they simply unplug and plug a new motor in, I may have a new one available if I can find it £10 posted, you will need to pull the brass worm gear off the end and push it onto the new motor. I always keep a spare as they fail regular Thumbs Up
