Satnav does not locate the car properly

I believe the system uses both the GPS and wheel sensors, which explains why there is the red line across the GPS icon but the screen somehow shows the proper position for a couple of hours after recalibration. Eventually it starts showing a different location, some 20 miles away from where I actually am. I've read a new GPS antenna might be a fix, but I didn't find any procedure for satnav diagnostics. Anyone with a similar experience and a solution? TIA. Regards etc.,

So do you have an abs problem as well?

It won't recalculate driving routes without abs speed info.

Search for USB GPS for replacement GPS signal info if it is the problem. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

No, the ABS is all OK (DSC etc as well). I actually didn't put any route into it to calculate, I just use the map view.
I thought the red line across the GPS icon is because it doesn't have a signal?
I don't actually know what would I do with an USB GPS - would it work as a sort of amplifier or external antenna that feeds GPS signal into the system? Regards etc.,

I had this very problem. New gps antenna fitted into the sharks fin fixed it. There is a write up on how to fix it. £8 antenna from eBay, 10 mm spanner and a number 8 torx bit should be all you need.

Here is the guide, I needed to go and buy the torx bit as 8 is very small and not in my regular toolbox

Quick update - problem solved with an aftermarket GPS antenna (costs around 6 quid where I live). The actual culprit was a broken cable that fell out the Fakra GPS antenna connector under the headliner. Thanks for all your help and input, much appreciated. Regards etc.,

Just to revive this thread out of many.
My GPS antenna has packed up, when i bought my Parrot Mini Asteroid it came with a GPS antenna that plugs into the parrot with a USB connection.
Could i just lop the end off the USB cable and connect it to the FAKRA plug or is it a completely different kettle of fish?
