Additional Security for RRS

I am waiting to pick up my 2013 RRS, my first ever. I am concerned about the volume of apparent thefts of this vehicle.

Even without the contactless key, i believe thieves can break into the RRS, remove the side of the dash, plug a device in and clone the key information. Is this not the case?

Due to my concerns about the high theft rates of RRS, i am considering getting a Viper or Clifford secondary alarm/immobiliser and even a Tracker chip.

Has anyone installed a secondary alarm/immobiliser system to their RRS? If so, which security system did you go for?

Any security tips would be welcome.

Thanks

Have a look at the Autowatch Ghost immobiliser system. I've been reading up on it and am considering having one fitted to my car. They claim even with the key they can't start the car and only way to take it would be to tow it away. 2017 SVR. SVO Scafell grey Ebony interior

Canada 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Santorini Black

Interesting point. This haunts me every winter when I have to warm up my car for 10 minutes.... Because of this keyless entry garbage, I can't start the car and lock it from the outside while it is running. Sometimes it runs for 10-15 minutes unattended. Fortunately Ottawa is so boring even the car thieves don't bother to come here.

Thumbs Up

I'm guessing you don't have the fuel burning heater on your car then as I can set mine to come on at a set time or just turn it on with the remote so car is locked and key still in the house so not a problem. 2017 SVR. SVO Scafell grey Ebony interior

Im getting the Autowatch Ghost installed the day after i pick the car up on 2nd April.

Im also getting a Trackstar Cat 6 tracker fitted.

One thing to look out for when buying an alarm/immobiliser, is to check that thr fitter is Thatcham approved on the Thatcham website.

The Autowatch Ghost looks interesting; not quite sure what will happen 10 years down the road when the company and/or tech cease to function as designed and the car won't start...

I would got with the Cat5 with the fob,,at least if they get the key & take it tracker will be alerted straight away as the Fob won't have been detected.without the fob by the time you've realised its gone it could be abroad of even striped.
