Replacing faulty CD/DVD player - 2010 RRS

Hi everyone,

My RRS CD/DVD player isn't reading disks. I've tried the following to get it working:

1) Performed a hard reset of the ECU by disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery and leaving it for 10 minutes - no change;
2) Used a compressed air duster to clean the tray compartment - no change;
3) Used a CD head cleaning disc to clean the laser head - no change.

Having spoken to an independent audio specialist and LR I've been told this will require a new unit. At over £500 (+VAT) plus fitting I'm looking at alternatives such as sourcing a used replacement and fitting it myself or getting a specialist to do it.

They are not easy to find so my question is this, could I swap it for a 2011 or 2012 unit? I don't know whether it's the same part? Also, I've seen warnings about needing it to be recoded, does anyone know anything about this?

Many thanks

Duncan
