Positive Crankcase Ventilation system

I have just discovered an oil leak on my drive, on closer inspection it seems that Oil is being forced out of the dipstick, I then reseated it, took it for a quick blast with full throttle and the dipstick popped up again. there is also vapour rising from the dipstick. Despite searching the internet I have no real idea where the Positive Crankcase Ventilation system filter or pipes are, as they may be clogged.
Anyone any ideas? 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater Smile)))

did you ever get this sorted? My car is doing the exact same thing, minus the vapour out the dipstick, but that could be because of the warm climate where I live.

Hi,
I did for mine. Apparently it was an internal crack in one of the intake manifolds. I replaced the one on the right (RHD car) myself and then got told by the local specialist that now that one was done there was going to be additional air pressure going into the left side manifold because of no internal leakage of compressed air. So I paid for them to replace the left side manifold because the air con needed to be degassed and with 2 new manifolds it has been fine since, touch wood. I never found out whether it was the left or the right manifold but perhaps some break more than others. Good luck. And ask for a pressure test on the manifold once it's removed, just so you know it definitely was the cause of the issue.

Thanks Matt, good to know.

I guess PCV valve would be a "good outcome", and it could be worse then a pair of manifolds, but still would be a chunk of time & money to fix.

I would have loved it only be a PCV issue , that would have saved me 3 nights of reasonably tricky labour and $1000 for the rocker/intake manifold for one side. Try calling Triumph Rover in Adelaide for some advice if you have an issues as they're the ones that did my left side manifold, and at the same time replaced the thermostat housing, blanked the EGR, full service and filters and did a performance tune. Not cheap but they know their stuff. So a total of $5500 and it transformed the car and gave me enough confidence to use it on many long highway drives.
