charging a small spare battery.

I carry a 12v portable car jumpstart pack in the car. Not for starting the car but it has a 12v cigar socket, & tyre inflator. Question. Can I plug it into the rear cigar socket to keep it charged, & if so would it be overcharged by the car?
many thanks current 2015 hse dynamic, grey.

probably need to look at the pack instructions.

If they say you can do this, then its no problem for the RRS

hi Andy. The instructions don't say. The unit came with a mains to 12v charger but I don't want to take the unit into the house to charge it. I was concerned that the power from the car 12v socket would fry the dry cell battery.
Many thanks P current 2015 hse dynamic, grey.

so you will make a lead up?

It should be ok, but the RRS likes to kick out 15V after start up apparently, which might be a bit too much for it!

Hi Andy. Yes I was going to make a lead but taking on board what you say about 15v perhaps I'll have a rethink. Cheers p current 2015 hse dynamic, grey.

I have jump start pack too, just in case if I need it, we all know that flat battery is not unusual thing in RRS. Mine has main to 12V plug for charging and also 12V to 12V for charging in the car, both supplied with unit. It has also dry cells.
What I would do is to take the pack charger and check output voltage. In my case it is 14.4V so no problem with plunging it in the car's 12V socket
