Battery conditioner

Heads up , lidl are selling ultimate speed battery charger/conditioner they are only £13.99 but very good. We use them on the fleet, mowers , quads , motorbikes and jet skis and the cars .
There was a thread on the Porsche forum about them , all good feedback.

That's an unbelievable price, compared to my Ctek which cost 4-5 times more. What's the catch?

TO DO: color code sills and pillars.

As a result of these posts I bought one. Had no need of it straight away so it stayed in its box till December. When I did get it out to use it no dice. Checked the fuse which was blown and so I've changed it. Still no dice.
Of course I had thrown away the receipt but went back to Lidl anyway. Just wanted to swap mine for another. No dice. They had none in stock and didn't know when there will be any. But they were still happy to give me a refund . Well done Lidl. Thumbs Up

Now I see that this Sunday they will have more in stock at the same price. So anyone who wants one get down there.
I'm also tempted by the battery and alternator checker. What do you think any good for £2.99?

Catch is they don't have the smart conditioning feature of a ctek and they won't charge completely flat batteries. Useful thing to have and good value thou Smile

I got mine and, as a test, am trying it on a battery that has been sitting in my garage on a kit car I'm working on. Kit hasn't been used for at least 3 years and battery was flat as a pancake. Well it's been on charge for 3 days now and has gradually brought the battery up from 9 volts to ( so far) 13.1. Charger is not too hot or anything so I am pleasantly surprised with the quality if the Lidl charger. Whether the battery keeps its charge is another matter. It's probably knackered but it's a good test of the charger. Robin

CTEK's don't charge completely flat batteries either.

What smart conditioning bit are you thinking about ?

The catch is that they aren't very reliable out of the box. I hope as you have a working one it will last for you.

I have had car batteries that my Lidl charger will not charge because they are too low, my ctek has charged them and then they have worked ok (I know that they should be fully dead after being that flat, but they still seem to work ok.

Ctek have a "reconditioning step that will revive and restore deeply discharged and stratified batteries." that is supposed to take worn batteries and rejuvinate them. I dont know how effective it is, but its a feature that the lidl ones do not offer. See here: http://www.ctek.com/gb/en/chargers/MXS%205.0

Im not slating the lidl battery chargers at all, I have one hooked up to my mower and one on the bench right now, and they do a good job most of the time, but someone asked what the catch is.
