2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I think a lot of people are being misled a bit about this - the original function of the FBH was not to heat the cabin, it was to warm the coolant to make the engine warm up more rapidly to reduce emissions, warmer engine then the quicker you will get warm air out of the vents after you drive away. The most rapid heating cabin in any of the LR range is in the Evoque when you get hot air within seconds of starting up because it doesn't use engine heating to warm the cabin, it has an electric heater working on temperature difference coefficient changing resistance (it's a PTC heater) - a similar system is fitted to many VW cars. The problem with PTC is that the battery management system / alternator cannot always cope with the electrical load and prioritises which electrics get run and the heater is not the highest priority. RRS system still needs to warm the coolant before you will get warm air in the cabin. BTW you may find that fitting a heated steering wheel has a better personal heating effect than trying to heat the cabin, at least in my experience I find that the steering wheel heater is much better than the seat heaters on a cold frosty morning. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Not misled by me I hope!
Always priority is for heating the engine in this retro fit configuration. Thumbs Up
Then warming the interior, which is evidenced by the defrosted windscreen in the morning Wink Bodsys Brake Bible

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

All my RRS's, FFRR's and Evoques have had a heated front screen, I thought it was standard on them............... but at the moment my RRS has only half a heated front screen and last week when the screen was well iced up on the passenger side (the side not working) it wasn't long before there was warm enough air coming out of the vents on the MAX setting to start melting the ice (was cold enough here that the spray can de-icer thawed a bit of screen and then the melt water froze again at -10c!). Anyway next week I'll have a new windscreen fitted under warranty. One thing I had not noticed before though is that the front and rear screens switch on automatically below about 4c on start up - had never noticed that before. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

That's a standard feature on ours and other makes.
It can be a real pain on short journeys if not noticed, soon drains battery.
Been fitted on Range Rovers/Jaguar since Ford ownership who have this well covered with Patents. John

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Zermatt Silver

Just back into being an RRS owner.

Having had three previous RRS, two with Remote Park Heating I would be very keen to retro fit to my latest acquisition which is a 2010 TDV8 HSE.

Are the kits still available? Looking at the forums it seems Bodsy is the expert, is he still a forum sponsor, I tried a PM but not sure it got delivered.

I am based J5 M40

Just bumping this back up, even though the weather is hot hot hot! At the moment, I've been fitting a few of these over the last couple of weeks.

Remember it can be used to Vent the vehicle when the temperature is over 15degrees to help to reduce the stuffy hot air before you get in.

Can supply only as per the thread, or fit and importantly, enable it in your car.
Many dealers do not know how to do this.....

Any questions, please let me know.

Regards

Hi Bodsy,

I have just bought a 2010 Discovery 4 HSE with the FBH installed.

The Timed Climate option pops up on my screen with the message that it’s not available due to fuel level or battery level.
The FBH does work, I can hear it running after a short trip and the exhaust gets really hot.

I’m looking for the genuine LR remote with receiver.

Can you PM me with details for the hardware and price?

Just don’t know how the fix the Timed Climate warning, because obviously it runs after a short drive.

Thanks,
EZy

It’s usually down to an old battery. Change the battery for a good spec one and reset the battery monitoring system. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

Hi. I’ve ordered an IIDtool from GAP and the Timed Climate was not activated.

So it seems that the message: Timed Climate not available, check fuel and battery level, is sort of a glitch?

But now all works as supposed and I’m moving on to the disco4.com site and will contact you there Bodsy for an Altox unit

Cheers
